Poulin recalled

According to NYIslanders twiiter(guessing that's the teams official twitter) they have recalled Kevin Poulin, hopefully it's just for this game and DP is ready to go after that.

Just a personal note, I pulled the adductor muscle in February 2010 playing basketball sliding on a wet spot on the floor, it felt a lot worse the next morning. It is a nagging injury that you could feel for a few months.

There is a machine at most gyms called an adduction machine which you will find mostly women on, where you have those 2 pads and you push them apart with your thighs.... very sensitive muscle.

I think Poulin will be here for a few weeks.

I dont like him being rushed, but he seems to be doing consistantly well for BP so I'm sure a couple of games can't hurt.

There is nothing better when you see a smoking hot woman using that machine, almost like she's just opening those legs for me

But yea as majormet said DP is gonna be hurting for a little while, he's spot on I've done the same when playing hockey and it just sucked for about 2 weeks for me.

Stupid Stupid stupid....the Kids playing great Hockey in the A and is actually Developing.....The isles should let him marinaid thier and let him progress....Hes probably super confident right now...do you really wanna risk him coming up and geting a start and giving up 6 goals in one....on the flip side he could carry his great play up with him and play great.....but I just dont thing you take that gamble on Poulin...Koskinen yes.....I see Koskinen as future trade peice anyway.....

If he isn't going to play, I'd rather him just stay in the AHL & have Koskinen be the backup.

Well, I don't really know what everyone expected. Poulin is now third on the depth chart, and #1 on the depth chart is hurt.

If you blame anyone for Poulin being up, blame Snow for trading Roloson so early, not for calling up his second-best healthy goaltender.

I'd also prefer he just stayed down in the AHL, but we need a backup, and Koskinen isn't even confident in the AHL right now. He would be a disaster playing here. As long as Poulin isn't up more more then a few weeks, I'm sure he should be fine with a few starts.

Poulin, I hope elevates his game and does good if/when he plays. Koskinen I hope does well as the #1 in Bridgeport and gains some confidence along with a few wins.

good reward for the kid who's played so well since he's been drafted. I'm happy for Poulin, I even hope he gets a start!

He was outplaying both Lawson and Koskinen (and everyone else in the AHL) - he actually DESERVES a call-up, unlike many of the players on the roster by default.

Those worried about "ruining him" - he's older than Tavares, I think he can handle ONE GAME. He DID earn it based on his AHL play this year IMO (despite the injuries to DiPietro and trading of Roloson)

I let it go.

But yeah, ideally Poulin and Koskinen DO NOT exist and we're calling up a scrub. But why be cautious with development when all of our prospects become stars?

How long do goalies take?
How much of a goalie's game is mental fortitude?

Tavares is a foreward. Forewards are the least delicate. (like Bailey) Defensemen take longer, by rule, and goalies take MUCH longer.

To say he deserbes to be thrown to the wolves sound just like we're trowing him to the wolves. Eventually, in 2086, I believe the last Islander fan will learn we should not rush prospects. Edgar Cayce predicted it. Until then, Capuano has a strict policy about diaper safety pins being taped down.

I don't disagree with you about the development length and psyche - but IN THIS CASE, I think it's just a "nice reward" for his stellar play AND the fact that DiPietro's injured. I expect him to not play at all, I am hopeful he gets ONE start as a reward, before he's sent back to the AHL. Nothing more.

I'd be fuming if he were expected to be a starter for an extended period - I doubt that's the case here.

Hey. I didn't want Roloson traded - I was hoping they'd extend him another year because I don't see any goalie who's close to Roloson on the depth chart, regardless of age/injuries/etc. The last thing I'm advocating is making Poulin a starter. But I'm not at all worried about him getting a look at the NHL and seeing some shots from the players he'll one day be expected to face.

I'm with you 100% on the reward but I WISH we were the type of team to put limits on such "rewards" instead putting their development ahead and being ardent in our refusal to meddle with it.

Nilsson and Koskinen should have been kept away from the NHL. Poulin is closest to ready, but still, I would have rather signed John Vanbiesbrouck than short change any goalie's development, even for a one-two week stint.

But we're the Islanders, so enjoy your time up, Kevin.

How does a two or three week callup in any way "short change" a players development? Are you suggesting that a players psyche is so fragile that if he were to get game time in, and got absolutely rocked, that his development would never recover and he'll be destined to be less than the goalie he otherwise could've been? Seriously?

Worst case, he comes up, doesn't perform well, realizes what he has to work on to play in the bigs and applies those lessons to his practice/daily routine. Thats it. These are humans people, not eggs.

Totally agree with you here...Koskinen is incredibly raw and not ready...Poulin hopefully doesn't rot on the bench
Hes earned his callup with how well he's doing in this being his 1st year in the A now the Island.

Im wondering if he keeps his #38 up here.

I'd like to think that if Poulin is up for more than a game or two, he'll see a little action at the NHL level. I agree that a short stint will do nothing to harm his development. He knows why he's up and that it's a short-term basis.

Not the same as when the Isles called up Luongo and DP early in their careers and let them log a ton of playing time on bad teams. Good experience, bad results. Although I do remember Luongo having a good SAPCT despite a rough W-L record. It just set him up for his stint in Florida.

And I'm not ashamed to admit I've used those adducter machines in the gym. I still play hockey and it's important to keep that area... uhhh, loose. Yeah.
