Regehr waives NMC?

1st and foremost I don't know if the mods here will allow this as a source for a rumor, so gentlemen if you feel teh need to lock this thread I fully understand...

2nd as stated in the following this is a rumor without a validated source...

3rd if you are unfamiliar with D'Arcy McGrath he is the owner of Cal Puck and is not known for just randomly spreading rumors

with all that said...

I love Regehr but with Bouwmeester and Sarich we really don't need him. We want him/love him but we don't need him. We NEED more scoring. Regehr with his $4.02M contract has easily the most value and could fetch a very nice return. If a move is in the works for a top-line center prospect and maybe a 1st, tell me where to sign.

I'd be amazed if Reggie would waive his no trade contract on a carte blanche basis.

He might well waive it for a specific deal, but I beelive he would look at each deal and decide on a case by case basis.

or maybe there was just a simple question asked... "Will you waive to go to a playoff team?"

it could be that simple... and honestly Regehr is the first guy I would expect to want off a sinking ship

If this team is going to rebuild, not the least bit surprising.

Interesting... Washington has the space to fit him both this year and in the future; Hannan comes off the books July 1, but in the interrim, Regehr and Hannan would be an excellent stay at home pair for the Caps. Think we could convince MacPhee to part with Alzner/Eakin for Reggie?

Doubt it. I'd be more interested in sending him to Boston for a Colborne/Ryder combo.

But why wouldn't he answer "maybe, I'll let you know for sure when you tell me the actual team"?

Boston does not trade away two forwards for a defensive dman when they are already 1st in the league in GA

Probably one of the best players that can be traded AND bring us back a decent return. Will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true!

I'm not saying I don't agree with you on your original point, but the Bruins have the best GAA because of one reason.....Tim Thomas.

They are allowing close to the highest amount of shots against per game in the league. Thomas' save percentage is hovering around the .950 mark I think.

As to the rumour about Regehr, if it's true I sure hope the return is a 1st rounder and maybe a prospect, or he's part of a package to get us a legitimate top six forward, otherwise I don't see the trade helping us now, or in the future. (unless you call tanking into a top 5 or better draft pick helping us)

Feaster has had talks with all the players on the team since since Sutter had his a** canned. I would not at all be surprised if when discussing the teams future with Regehr, Feaster asked him would if he be "willing" to waive his NTC to go to a contending/playoff team.

As far as the draft picks, Feaster has already stated that he wants to get a 2nd and 3rd round pick back before next years draft. Again I wouldn't be surprised if he traded Regehr for a centre that is an upgrade over Jokinen and Stajan, and say someone else like Moss was added to aquire a 2nd or 3rd round pick. If Feaster was going for the playoffs this year, a guy I think he may be targeting is Pavelski. No way does Savard waive to come here now. Zajac would be another target, but he would cost an arm and a leg to pry out of Jersey, he would cost way more than Regehr alone.

Boston needs more of PMD then someone like Regehr.

I vaguely recall Adam Foote being traded back to Avs for a 1st several years ago.
So I'm sure Regher can fetch a late 1st rounder as well. (if NMC waived)

Boston would be interested in Bouw if he was available.

It's CalPuck the site and not one of the posters so it's fine.

Certainly interesting...

A few days ago, Spector speaking about regehr

CALGARY SUN (VIA TORONTO SUN): Randy Sportak report Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr could attract attention at the trade deadline if the Flames fail to climb back into playoff contention by then. He has two years at $4.02 million per season remaining on his contract and would be of interest to clubs like Washington and San Jose.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: He’s also got a “no-movement” clause but rumor has it he was close to being dealt last summer so I suppose we can’t fully rule out that possibility.

I honestly won't be surprised if it's true, as said before, we love the guy, but it seems like he would be one of the first to want out, and IMO he is expendable (maybe not so much this second, but for the future for sure) I think i all depends on if Feaster still believes this team will make the playoffs. I doubt a move happens until the deadline though, but i think he has probably just told feaster that he would waive it if asked

My guess is Pittsburgh wanted to upgrade their D, but wanted to see if they could do it through free agency first before pulling a trade that would leave their forward group minus Staal.

They ended up signing Michalek and Martin on July 1st, so they probably squashed the Regehr deal.

There is the old rumor floating around on the Bruins board saying Savard for Regehr is the basis for a deal. What do you guys make of that? Would you take something like that? Seems unlikely, mainly because it has been speculated that Savard wants to stay in the northeast for family reasons, but who really knows?

I would rather try and get Wheeler and Colburne somehow. love Savard's game but he's one concussion from retirment and this team needs to get younger.
