As much as I'd like to see all the Staals on the Pens, Carolina would have to add more.

and TBH, I feel Staal is not near the player Malkin is and has basically the same contract.

Because saying Eric Staal is better than Malkin is alittle Homer if you ask me.

While playing like crap, Malkin puts up the same numbers as Staal.
Ohhh and they have what? 200k difference in salary?

We all know what malkin can do ... yeah yeah, he hasn't produced lately but even there, it's as good as Staal.

we know where malkin's sealing is ... which Staal's in nowhere near it

Ignoring the inevitable banter of "Who's better than who", this doesn't happen for one reason:

JR won't make a Russian the face of the franchise. Especially not a Russian who's already got a reputation as being lazy.

Malkin averages about 20 more points more than Staal in the regular season (or about the difference between Staal and Matt Stajan), and has produced better in the playoffs too.

Not sure why Pittsburgh would even give a second thought to this offer.

Both teams laugh. What a nonsensical trade.

I think Staal is a better leader for a team to build around then Malkin. Malkin is the more talented player. Honestly the trade makes no sense for either team. I really think the only player that could get Staal from the Canes that they would be willing to add for is Crosby.

Talent and stats is one thing but you have to look at what a player means to a franchise. I doubt Malkin would be as valuable to the Canes as Staal currently is. Staal did help lead his team to a cup victory. So the Playoff performance between the two is debatable who you would rather have.

I also think the Ducks would probably pass up a 1 for 1 deal of Gretzalf for Malkin. A player that is a team leader has something that can't be measured by talent or stats.

He's not lazy in the least. No clue where you pulled that from. If anything he tries too hard instead of relaxing and playing smart.

In any case Malkin keeps pace with Staal but with worse linemates. No thanks.

You must have forgotten 2 playoff seasons ago when Malkin absolutely torched your team while Staal did basically nothing and your team got swept almost singlehandedly by Malkin.

Fiction: Staal is Malkin's equivalent

Fact: Malkin given a team of his own and talent on both wings, he'd challenge crosby every season for the rocket and art ross as he is arguably the most talented player in the world.

Fact: I would love to see Jordan center Eric on a second line for the penguins.

Your facts exist on youtube if you're questioning his raw talent and the fact he's always around or over a pt/game pace with sh** wings might tell you something. I dont' think we've scratched the surface of what he's capable of, which I hope Jordan and maybe a UFA/trade deadline signing will result in him showing that next level on this team instead of another. Pens fan apologies for hyperbole.

Geno is the most disgustingly overrated player in the history of overrated players. He has amazing dangling skills, great shot, and good hockey sense. He doesnt play hard, not good in the defensive zone, hes a floater, he seemingly lacks any motivation or passion for the game. He even floats in the offensive zone. He is a lethargic one dimensional player who isn't putting up the same numbers he did early in his career, and i wouldnt be surprised if he never does again. All this while remaining a defensive liability. The "Big 3" is a tired cliche from 2008 which needs to die. I take Staal every day and twice on Sunday. Carolina says no.
