Nyi - Njd

NYI
2011 1st rounder (1-3 overall)
2011 2nd rounder (31-33 overall)
Mikko Koskinen or Anders Nilsson

NJD
Zach Parise

The Devils could end up with Couturier and Larsson, a decent goaltender prospect and basically another late 1st rounder.

This would be one of those "very bad Islander trades". Almost like a Yashin trade all over again.Islanders wouldnt thrive of off Parise at all, they would be better to keep there picks and go from there.

no chance parise is traded within the division especially for that package. oksposo or tavares would need to be involved, which of course is a moot point

Someone mentioned it yesterday. The Isles are a team that rarely makes trades where they take on salary, not sure they do it here where the would take on quite a bit of salary in Parise.

not nearly enough for Parise.

Devils lose a proven impact player, not yet in his prime, among the best players in the game for the "POTENTIAL" to get one in 3-4 years and marginal prospects.

For Parise to the NYI the offers would have to start with Hamonic, Bailey and the #1 pick - something close to that.

That would seem like it would hurt both teams but it may be good for both teams.

Devils get, potentially, Larsson, Hamonic and Bailey who can play almost immediately and be good for years. Bailey - Kovy could be special together IMO, their playing styles would compliment each other well.

Isles add a real NHL player at a position they are extremely weak in.

Parise - Tavares - Okposo is a real #1 line that you can build from.
Add: Niederreiter, Petrov, Moulson, Nielsen, a free agent and suddenly the team is in the playoffs. They lose a potential stud on defense, maybe a piece comes back from NJ.

Regardless, these hockey-trade deals never happen anymore.

The deal needs to hurt a bit for both teams, or they don't get done.

Wow. That is simply a sad comment.

Considering the Devils get 4 1st rounders I believe if someone takes Parise, why the heck would we do this? Also, to say the Islanders wouldnt do this is moronic.

Really, I am a NYI fan I would jump all over this. Of course the Devils get robbed in this deal. The NYI have had enough top draft picks and have restocked the prospect pool pretty good. They need real players. Parise would be perfect but we would have to give up a lot more than what is being offered here.

The NYI at this point are better off trading their picks for some players IMO

How about 2 first rounds and a goalie not named Poulin......Like the deal for Kessel but Parise is way better than kessel.....Man I would sell my wife to a European women trafficer for Parise to come to the Island.....(Where he should have been in the first place) but the isles MAD MIKE were to stupid to draft him

He's a ufa on July 1st,2012.Will he sign an extension with the NYI?

While his impending ufa status might not deter some nyi fans,I think Snow's actions since the Ryan Smyth rejection, show that Snow's not moving key pieces for rentals and then hoping they can be wooed into staying.

exactly, he'll resign with the Devils, though unless they get larsson and he pans out they wont win because their defense is weak

We are not trading Zach Parise to a team we have to play 6 times a year.

If Parise is moved, it definitely won't be to a division rival.

But that's just a sidenote. This will never happen.

Bailey and 1st 2011 sounds about right. If any Isles fan scoffs at that and cites how important the future is, tell me where do you see you're team playing in the future? A positive PR move might just get an extra butt or two in the stands. Also a Parise-Tavares-Okposo line would look really killer.

Why would Isles do this if he's a RFA next year? We can just make him an offer sheet instead of making this lopsided trade and risk losing him for nothing.

Indeed. Just entering his prime NHL superstar winger for...three abstract fuuuuutures.

Yep, Parise in any way shape of form resembles the gutless wonder named Yashin.

"Very bad deal" for NYI.

Now back to Planet Earth....

Islanders would get robbed long term. All three top picks (Couturier, Larsson, RNH) all project to be better players than Parise. If the pick falls into the 4-7 range I would say lets do it but I'm not sure if I want any part of a franchise that is actually in worse shape than the Islanders.
