Welcome to the big leagues. It takes an industrial strength liver to support this team .... and a lot of Jack.

In response to the thread title: Neither.... whacked out on pain meds after surgery.

I have a bad feeling about tonight. I expect the ducks to blow us out maybe 5-1.

they don't have getzlaf tonight, and our offensively inept club has put 4 and 5 goals on them. we are faster than them. and we have played well the past few games. i expect a good effort at the least

Anaheim has been playing better than anyone expected. They have rookies on defense but we don't have the offensive talent to exploit that. I want a good effort even if we come up short.

Centers for tonight??? Leggy, Goc, Smithson, and Spaling. I like our chances if we can skate two scoring lines with Goc and Leggy.

But I think we miss Cal more than most think. His playmaking creating good scoring chances. Opponents had to account for him to be sure. Neither Smithson nor Spaling come close to creating the same opportunities around the net. Let's hope Svatos can help take up slack till Erat and Sully are back (both stayed home for this trip).

The centers the next two games are actually Legwand, Goc, Smithson, Mueller.

o'reilly had kind of hit the wall over the last month or so, so we've been without his production anyway, but still the center depth is definitely a bit scary.

Just saw projected lines on OtF.

Hornqvist - Legwand - Dumont
Kostitsyn - Goc - Klasen
Wilson - Spaling - Svatos
Smithson - Mueller - Ward

There are so many possible possibilities. AND I won't be surprised if lines are different from the first to third periods. It really depends on whether Trotz's lottery-ball machine is plugged in.

i wouldn't mind seeing klasen and mueller paired up together on a line since they have chemistry and played together in milwaukee.

I like to live in my little fantasy world where lineups aren't created in a random number generator, where the coach doesn't seem like he's playing some cruel joke by putting out the least effective lines imaginable, and where the only Belak is a forgotten Muppet character.

Having said that, playing Klasen with Mueller DOES seem to make sense to me.

Put Mueller with Klasen, and then put wilson with SK and Goc. That would make perfect sense.

Why???? Dumont has been skating 4th line and 2nd PP, suddenly he's on the 1st line? Leggy - arguably our best skater/puck handler - skating with 2 or our 3 slowest skaters? Svatos is a closer, Wilson is getting there, so we put them with our weakest playmaking center who's been playing wing? Good grief - how hard is it to put Svatos with Goc, Wilson with Legwand, and JP and Klasen with Nick?

While I do write for OtF, I don't necessarily agree with the lines in the game preview on most days...

Based on Trotz's statements the past couple days, the Spaling-Smithson-Ward shutdown line will remain intact as the third line. Mueller will center the fourth line with Dumont and Klasen likely as his wingers. Look for Mueller to be very active tonight, he's been told he has two games to prove himself...

Wilson - Legwand - Kostitsyn
Hornqvist - Goc - Svatos
Spaling - Smithson - Ward
Klasen - Mueller - Dumont

Those are the lines I expect to see tonight...

Those lines make sense to me. Mueller and Klasen together because of their time in MIL. The top two lines have finishers in Willy and Svatos.

I would like to see SK74 with Goc and Svatos -- Kostitsyn setting up Svatos. And Horny with Leggy and Wilson -- Hornqvist following up Wilson's wristers. But hey, Trotz is an NHL coach with a long pedigree and I've played ice hockey twice.

Cooper is speculating on Twitter that the lines look like:

Kostitsyn - Goc - Hornqvist
Wilson - Legwand - Svatos
Spaling - Smithson - Ward
Dumont - Mueller - Belak

Personally, I'd prefer Klasen over Belak...

That is maddening.

"You have two games to prove yourself. By the way, your linemate for those two games will be Wade Belak. Oh, and JP Dumont. I hate him, too."

Belak needs to play against Anaheim. Look at their roster, plus his going crazy at the end of the Columbus game was really fun to watch.
