Anyone except Nash or Umberger is fair game for Evgeni Malkin.

I say this because I realize that there's a snowball's chance in hell that that would happen.

A small part of me might be cheering if Nash is moved....

It might be an awful thing to say, but there it is.

Bach's brother is a former NHL goalie

Big Deal

A major deal would involve 3 or more teams to handle a group of salary cap issues. Look who has issues today, has a glut of 1st class centers, and who doesn't want to send a top player to their conference=team one. A team with serious salary cap issues next year + no issues that require them to wait until the deadline the rebuild=team two. A team that desperately needs to make the playoffs=team three. PIT-NJD-CBJ. Now what is the consideration that gets NJD to take #22. What does the CBJ have to give to get Malkin-Staal? Work this out over lunch and I'll get back to you to execute the necessary documents.

Big? I would define Big as getting something back of substance AND getting rid of Commodore. IMO in order for that to happen we will have to give up something of of substance as well (Filatov or Voracek) and a prospect. Howson is desperate and the other 29 GM's know it. It will be overpayment.

I would like to see Brassard moved, but judging by the contract situations, Voracek and Filatov are certainly easier (on the wallet) to move.

I think there is way too much focus on trading Commodore. Just because he wants a trade doesn't mean they have to trade him. Sheldon Souray wanted a trade. You think Jeff Finger has been asking for a trade?

Getting rid of him is not addition by subtraction. Getting rid of him is neutral. He isn't bringing much value, but he doesn't hurt them either. I think the only gain is budget space. I'd be shocked if Howson bends over and takes it so he can trade Commodore.

Commodore for a Commodore 64 and a box of Coors Light would be a brilliant move.

I also think claiming Marc-Andre Burgeron for his 1 Million this year wouldn't be bad. Gives us a cannon from the point, and his D can't be any worse than Stralman.
I would consider this a nice grab if the CBJ did so... I'd be happy with this

On another front... I would love a BIG deal that involved Malkin.

Edit*** What do you think it would take to get Malkin??? Hypothetically, of course.

If only....

What's so significant about noon? All that means is finding out if anyone claimed Wilson.

Fro, you are a humourist.
Burke wants TOP 6 forward for Kaberle and you offer Toronto.... Commodore, Wilson and 2nd pick. Plus I very wonder as Kaberle annuls his NTC for us.

Fortunately any of your trade is not realistic so I do not have to reserve a plaxe in the hospital.

There was some pondering on here as to whether or not a deal would ride on whether or not Wilson was claimed.

Well, it's not Bergeron. LeBrun and Kypreos are both reporting on Twitter that he's cleared waivers and will be assigned to the AHL. So let the speculation and banter continue. The only solid fact I know is that none of us know what is going on behind the scenes.

Unless Howson has some kind of gentleman's agreement out there, I don't see what this does. Yes it opens up another roster spot, but who are you going to trade/fill it with?

Well that sucks. A great shot, for 1 million and he walks at the end of this year.

Hope Howson has something big up his sleeve, because passing on this, could be a pretty bad mistake

I hope I am surprised by a "big" move, but I just don't see one coming. We don't have anything to trade to get anyone good back. The only way we can make a big trade, that doesn't have us giving up our young core, is if someone wants Filatov. I know some people on here have no problem trading Voracek, but I am not one of them. To me, if we trade Voracek and Brassard for someone, we aren't fixing our problems. Yeah, we get better at one position, but we get worse somewhere else. We need to get another good player and keep guys like Voracek and Brassard.
