I could see why this makes sense for both teams, if kabby walks than Gonchar could replace him, Ottawa has been in the market for a physical D-man for a while now. The real hurdle hear is the contract length of Komisarek. I would think that Gonchar would be more of a marketable asset than Komisarek to trade. Very interesting proposal.

No. Gonchar was brought in for a reason (mentor Erik Karlsson) and frankly it doesn't matter how he performs as long as he's in practice.
gonchar was also brought in to make the PP better and improve the team overall. he's done neither. the only thing gonchar and karlsson have in common right now is the +/-. -16 and -15
Hell no. Gonchars having a ****** year along with everyone on the team. I'd much much much rather give him a shot with new players and probably a new system next year.
I started and stopped reading when I saw Komisarek. Gonchar although having a rough season has much more trade value then Komi... I dont want him anywhere near Ottawa unless he's playing on the other team.
Oh sweet baby jesus this is a big no from Ottawa. Komisarek would barely fetch a bag of pucks from any other NHL team so theres no way we're going to get a player of Gonchars caliber for him. No matter how poor of a season he is having, Komisarek will always be doing worse.
The difference is two offensive Dmen could bump him down to a bottom pairing mentor role while on their ELCs...plus Cowen on his ELC and more coming. The wasted money on Gonchar is fine by me as long as we're saving greatly on guys like Karlsson, Rundblad, Cowen, etc....Karlsson's already bumped Gonchar down sooner than most anyone expected...the Sens think Rundblad can do the same.

Komi is not bad, he needs to be in a defensive system, not Wilsons run and gun, thats what made him seem so good in Montreal, and so bad here, not to mention he is being used as a 5/6 here because of our depth, which will affect his motivation level when he plays.
