Mike Commodore on waivers **CLEARED**

according to Bob McKenzie the Jackets placed Mike Commodore on waivers. Usually I'm against picking off the scrap heap but isn't Commodore still a viable NHL'er that can play a good game? If that's the case shouldn't the Isles pick him up?

He's expensive. I doubt he gets claimed on the way out.

BUT he could very well get claimed on the way back in, when half his salary is off the books.

However, I don't know how many years he has on his contract and if the salary for those years continues to be paid in full. In general, he's a big guy who uses his body and can make a good first pass.

Dunno if Snow would claim him - it'd be a contract thingy, but if they feel Eaton is suffering a lingering problem, then maybe...

Annoying yes but this is how our GM assembles his team through other teams rejects.

NYI may pick him up on re-entry but that is highly unlikely

I got to see Commodore a lot when he was with Carolina - I think he'd be great for the Isles. Skilled and high energy.

if he's become a distraction to their team perhaps a trade of Hunter could work

salarys offset eachother a bit .

Maybe on re-entry. I wouldn't touch him on regular waivers.

If the Isles are gonna dumpster dive, I'd rather pick up Boris Valabik, who's on re-entry.

He was the Jackets' seventh d-man lately and had been getting healthy scratched quite a bit. Just some background info for you guys.

Not worth picking him up with that contract. Sucks too, because I really like Commodore. Really likable guy.

He might still be better than some of the crap we're putting out there (Gervais, Hillen) but when the Islanders D corps are healthy he probably figures to be out of the top 6. Also too expensive.

The Isles should probably just go with what they have at this point.

Witt redux.

2 yrs with over 7mil remaining.

Pass. Valabik as a stopgap if Eaton's injury is more than a week. Can't have 2 rookie goalies on your team and take a third or fourth defenseman out of the AHL to put in front of them.

The guy can still play for sure AND if you can grab him for half his salary on re-entry waivers, which would be less than 2 million per, I think you would be nuts not to grab him.

He's only 31 years old and has Championship experience as well. I'd sign him in a heartbeat...but ONLY on "re-entires"...not before.

Yup! He's a locker room distraction with CBJ.

Why would we want him here?

I never saw him take a minute off when he played for the Canes. Always ready to play and always enthused.

You'll know that day is here when Jon Sim and Jack Hillen are no longer everyday players for us. Hang in there.

Habs just lost Gorges for the season. Wonder if they'll bite on either guy.

With Eaton out, it's apparent that the Isles could use some D help, so now Commodore makes sense. Unfortunately the NYI will pass on him because he makes more than the league minimum. (Note that I'm not saying he's worth what he's making now. He isn't.)

He cleared waivers. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...e.html?sid=101

Someone will grab him on reentry. He's owed 3.5 million for 11-12 and 3.35 million for 12-13. Even at half that money, it might be too rich for the Isles.

Is he even worth it at half. I have not seen him play in the past year or so but other than his one good playoff run I remember him being a bottom pair d-man
