Josh Gorges says he'd been playing with a torn ACL since 2003. Will get that fixed now too

#Habs Gorges would sign longterm in Montreal "in a heartbeat"

habsinsideout1 Dave Stubbs
#Habs Gorges has basically been playing without an ACL

I freaking love Gorges. One of my favorite players league wide, easily!

Side note: do you think playing without an ACL for that long is part of the reason concerning Josh's skating issues, specifically balance and mobility?

he said he has been wearing a brace which was acting as the ACL haha
so maybe it effected him a bit but not as much as it could have I guess

It's an interesting trade to look at. While it helps the Habs on the defense side, trading away Weber is taking away a possible piece to the Habs future. I wonder, what is White's contract situation as of right now? If he's a rental, it would make no sense to me to trade youth that can crack the line-up next year or at least have a spot, for someone that is more likely then not out the door after the present season/post-season.

But in terms of value, yeah this is a good value. However, in my opinion, it all depends on White's contract/terms.

White has two years left (this year and the next) at 3M$ per.

That's really too bad. Gorges is one of my favourites.

What a soldier, though.

You must think gauthier is a preamptive guy he just traded for two defenseman in the last 2 weeks. I think festerling will get minutes and if he can be a solid 6th, gauthier won't make a trade.

The Warrior company (for sports equipement) needs to use Josh Gorges as a poster boy.

This guy is tough, wow.

I hope he stays with the Habs. Is he UFA or RFA at the end of the year?

I'm no GM but if I would enter the playoffs with Festerling on my 3rd pairing... yikes

All in due time. All in due time.

Back on track, what a warrior! Hope he comes back stronger than ever next year with an ACL now.

Definitely deserving of captain or assistant captain consideration.

Wow, I just read that Gorges has been playing with a torn ACL for 7 years. I'm in shock. How can anyone not love a player like this? This guy is a warrior and will do anything for any team he plays with. Get well soon, Josh.

NFL'ers and CFLers both play their whole careers with torn ACL's, my father and his brother both did in their years in the CFL.. I find there's more of a warrior mentality in football and they just bare it.. Gorges is one of those guys..

you nerds make it sound like he played with a one leg, one lung and a the hopes and dreams of a million children on his soldier. A torn ACL can be played with.

I happened to play in the Beer League with a blister on my foot just last wee btw.

I agree, I mean if he's done it for 7 years, its not really a big deal.

What is more of a big deal is all of the other punishment he's put up with blocking shots with every part of his body.

Stop agreeing with me, I don't want to have to have to start liking you like I did with some of the other knuckleheads around here.

Trust me, nothing I do will make you like me.

For example, are you familiar with the war on ski's 100 years ago? Kovalev's country lost that war.

Actually I'm no longer a Kovalev fan, just too lazy to change avatars. Oh, .. .and yes... I am familiar with that war, fascinating era.

ok, now you got me confused, I don't understand how you could use to be a kovalev fan and be familiar with that era and call it facinating.

“I’ve had better times. This obviously sucks. As a player, you never want to be on the sidelines watching and it’s something new for me so it’s going to be difficult to deal with,” admitted Gorges, who has been playing with a torn ACL since his days with the Kelowna Rockets in 2002. “Obviously, right now, it’s tough to swallow and it sucks, but down the road I’ll have a good knee that’s 100 percent functional and working better than it has in seven years. I’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel at some point and when that day comes, it will be good.”
http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...r-eight-years/

Does this mean less falling? I mean I've always wondered why someone with pretty decent skating abilities fall so much. Perhaps it was the knee.

Because I'm French/Acadian/Irish and admire the hockey player, not his country. Actually, this avatar was sort of a joke, I used to have a Patrick Traverse/Forrest Gump one for years instead.

Wait, because I liked a Russian hockey player I can't like the crazy mountain people taking on the enemy while wearing skis?
