When the rangers do get one it should be put in the new giant stadium. Baseball stadiums have terrible sightlines for an outdoor hockey game.

Our most likely destination was Yankee Stadium, but now with the Notre Dame football games it doesn't seem likely. I don't know if they will do one at Citi Field or Central Park.

I think we will have our outdoor game when they are doing the renovations at the Garden and the roof is removed

But seriously, our best chance at it might be gone now so it may not be anytime soon

If they do get one I hope they do what they're doing this year and have an old timers game the day before. How awesome would it be to see Messier, Leetch, Richter, and Graves lace em up for one more game! Speaking of the old timers game, does anyone know if it's going to be televised? I kinda wanna see Lemieux play in that game.

I think our best chance was at Yankee Stadium but We could play at Giants stadium against either the Islanders or devils.

Baseball stadiums suck for outdoor hockey games... Worst sight-lines... Rather wait to have it at a football stadium.

Why would the NHL want the Islanders on national television? Maybe Rangers vs. Devils/Leafs/Canadiens/Kings.

Agreed. The Rangers wouldn't get an outdoor game because they're the Rangers.

Kings? Caps have a better chance of playing the Rangers outside. Why the Kings?

Because the Caps are having one this year

The Kings are a popular team

Didn't want to put a team like the Thrashers

If the Rangers do get an outdoor game, it will be against an Eastern Conference team, probably either the Penguins, Flyers or Bruins. No way they face the Kings in an outdoor game. Maybe the Red Wings or Blackhawks since they really aren't in the western half of the US. But not the Kings.

There really is no excuse for the continent's largest metropolitain area to not get the outdoor game. Modern-day Rome. The financial hub of the planet. So on and so forth.

The NYC metro area has FOUR (4) brad new, state-of-the-art, highly technologically advanced, capable and able ficilities that were built in the area within the last two (2) years. Which, in an awful global economy, is astounding.

New Meadowlands Stadium
Yankees Stadium
Citi Field
Red Bull Arena (below)

http://blog.nj.com/hudsoncountynow_i...08/redbull.jpg

Any of these would be able to host an outdoor hockey game.

There are three (3) Division rivals in the NYC metro area. With a fourth (4th) not far away (Philadelphia).

Excuses? Legitimate, real excuses? Zero (0).

Hiden, political agendas by the higher-ups in the NHL, that's the only reason.

Ya'll are crazy to think we're "entitled" to have this. You don't know what goes into deciding this, probably goes beyond just market and facility. Heck they played the last two in Wrigley Field and Fenway, I think your point is moot.

You don't think the NHL would love to have it in their own backyard? Consider a big portion of this is funded by sponsorship dollars, having it local would be more than ideal. Love how people think they know everything.

yea the planning is simple...

bettman "schedule something in canada so them damn people to shut up"
bettman "winter classic 2012 will be played in washington dc...OVECHKIN vs CROSBY (they just switch around whose names 1st)

then another lockout (during this lockout, bettmans sons street hockey team will win it and bettman can have his name engraved on it)

after the lockout, bettman realigns the conferences and puts the capitals in the west and changes each capitals and penguins wins to equal 5 points per win and teams who they beat to get points taken away making it inevitable for both teams to meet in the stanley cup. hes going to make opposing team nets bigger and the pens/caps nets smaller and eventually goalie pads wont exsist to make the fans "happier" because there will be more goals. then bettman will clone himself so he can be the commissioner forever and bettman will move the NHL offices to his house in upper saddle river, nj.
