I tried to drink that once. Got about 1/4th of the way through a bottle and it truly did feel like the end of the world in my stomach. Just awful horsepiss beer.

If you are in BC I would say Cariboo lager. I think it might be brewed hobo urine, yes even cold. If not only thing I can think of is keystone and it does not bad considering the price.

It's a good beer. I am guessing it's just not your style or the alcohol % was too high for you.

Lots of reasons. A lot of my unviersity friends drink lighter beers because they go down easier and thus are great for games like flipcup where you are consuming a lot of beer. Also some people like to have a few beers and not get messed up. It's just preference.

You also have to understand that there are differences in what a 'light beer' is. Sometimes a light beer is considered light due to percentage of alcohol whereas it can also be considering 'light' because it has less calories.

And you asked about kegs.. kegs are actually cheaper.

A keg of PBR is 203.30 including 50 bucks deposit so it's actually 153.30 for 58.6 L (or something like that), it roughly works out to 172 beers for 153.30. You also need to spend 65 on a tap but 50 of that is deposit as well. Keg parties are a popular way to make money. You usually charge 10 bucks at the door per person so anything after 16 people is pure profit.

What ever happened to Henry Weinhardts? That was a great budget beer back in the day
Currency differences? Have you seen the exchange rate over the past many many months?

Hex beer at Superstore is pretty good, less than a buck a beer if you buy bulk.

Edit: Maybe it's Hek, can't remember, yellow can anyways.

Bowen Island lager is much more drinkable and is just as cheap.

I stay away from anything made by Pacific Western.

The first time my friends and I went to Windsor we were trying to find cheap alcohol and didn't realize how expensive it is. A 6 pack of Busch light was like $9.

Not sure if you have it in Ontario but as someone mentioned previously, PC Honey Red is a really good cheap beer.

Yeah we have that in Ontario. I've always wondered though, what does the "red" mean for beer

Probably that it's a red/amber ale? At least that's the case with Keith's/Rickard's Red. Not everyone likes darker beers though.

Also: I will contribute to this topic in the coming months as I've been keeping arbitrary numerical ratings for beer for the past year that are basically "how do I feel about this beer out of 10?" Mostly microbrews and imported stuff since I already knew Canadian and other cheap ****** stuff were pretty awful, but I decided to throw it into a spreadsheet yesterday for better organization, and I figure, hell - may as well do it right. Will attempt to find every beer listed in this thread.

EDIT: if it wasn't obvious, I'll be buying singles wherever possible so my price per beer will be significantly higher than cases... I don't want to commit to cases of this stuff

Irish Red ale

Irish red ale, red ale, or Irish ale gains its slightly reddish colour from the use of a small amount of roasted barley.[14] The term red ale or red beer is used by brewers in countries other than Ireland; however, the name Irish Red is typically used when roasted material is used. Smithwick's is a typical Irish red ale.

In the United States, the name can describe a darker amber ale, and some breweries may produce a "red" beer that is a lager with caramel coloring.
