Kopitar

I was just curious to see what he is worth.
I am not making a trade prospal or anything i am just wondering what you would give up for him.

Less than Sidney Crosby and more than Steve Ott.

Value established.

Would take a lot more than teams would be willing to offer ( would leave Kings with a big hole at #1 Center)

/thread.

what the heck is the point of this anyway? LA's #1 centre, 23 yrs old, 6'3", already a star in the league with no real flaws in his game....why even consider what his "market value" is?

What if the answer is Eric Staal?

LA would never deal Kopitar unless they had 1-2 other #1 centres around and had a hole in another area. So, if they really needed a defenseman, they may look at something like Shea Weber as part of a package.

But really, what's the point? I never understood the "value of" threads.

There's no such thing as "value" in isolation. It's about filling holes in your team to make yourself better, dealing from a position of strength (unless you're the Leafs)

Only 23, big, and very skilled/solid all around. Top ten for scoring in forwards, top five for centers.

It would take a lot.

From the Oilers: MPS, 1st round pick in 2012, Hemsky/Penner.

I would give up a LOT for Kopitar. To the tune of Gaborik + Del Zotto + Grachev + picks.

I'd much rather have Kopitar than Semin.

Semin is a highly skilled player but he's too damn hot and cold.

Probably more along the lines of Backstrom.

This guy is one of the top young forwards in the game. Other than the likes of Crosby, Ovie, and Stamkos and maybe Malkin he falls in behind them.

Without Kopitar, the Kings don't need Semin. We need Semin to PLAY with Kopitar, and I'd rather have a young center in Kopitar than a young winger in Semin. As someone mentioned, it would take your best player beyond the big three obviously. 23 year old, almost PPG big centers don't fall off trees. Each year, Kopitar's stats get better, not to mention his leadership (he wears an A) and defensive skill is improved.

Wouldn't even think twice about the remote possibility of regretting it either. Gabby+DZ+Grachev is something that as a Rangers fan I would hesitate for most players.

Kopitar isn't most players.
