2nd or 3rd
just a thought, I doubt EDM likes it.
I know nothing of Makarov, a little info?
I wouldn't mind this deal to be honest, although it would likely need to be 2nd and 3rd. We do have a bit of a logjam in our bottom two defense pairs, but Smid is one of the best of the ones in said log jam. Counter offer, Vandermeer for a late pick (at the deadline).
Makarov is hard to tell. Potential is on his side, but he still has to show more. He doesn't speak english as of now.
We actually told Marincin(2010 2nd rounder) that one of things the Oilers want him to work on was his english. So I don't know that this becomes an issue as they would help him out. Problem becomes having no russians to help him out.
I'd pass as Smid is the best chance the Oilers have at developing a solid shut-down partner for Peckham. The main reason I'd pass, though, is the Oilers have a terrible track-record at developing Russian prospects.
