IF he gets called up, IŽd like to see Zuccarello-Mitchell-Hagelin or Zuccarello-Dubinsky-Hagelin

i like the sounds of that line...i was also thinking a zuke-richards-hagelin line might be exciting, my thought is that the way the richards has struggled as has dubi offensively, zuke makes some unbelievable impossible passes that would wind up on the stick of richards or dubi in a great spot to get out of their slumps

i hope some trades are made and zuke gets a chance

I'd really like to see him with Hags again. Hags got the speed to get places, and Zucca has the ability to feed him the puck from just about anywhere.

If it wasn't that this is seriously hampering Zucc's NHL career, thinking about him in the minors while witnessing the NYR PP would be hilarious.

Have to say Prust as a top 6 is quite funny as well.

Maybe they could trade Zuc to Carolina in a deal for Ruutu? don't know if that might be possible cap wise, and Carolina probably feels like having enough small young forwards already.

Way to go Zuke.
He has certainly earned his spot.

Hope Torts have the guts to keep him up for Play Offs. His Power Play skills should be valuable....

Good bump. He's been great since he's been called up and added some much needed scoring. Makes you question management's decision to send him down to begin with.

Some might say that his stay in AHL this season have done him good. But I still think it was unfair to send him down after the 3 first games where he only got about 7 mins/game and the whole team sucked big time. His mental strongness has impressed me. He had an amazing camp, was praised by the management, and then got sent down after 3 games. That is TOUGH. But he kept going, despite rumors about going "home" to Sweden and that he was close to giving up his NHL dream.

Fingers crossed that he plays the rest of the regular season games and hits 60 NHL games, and his days in AHL are over. There is no way in **** he will go unclaimed if put on waivers.

last game he took 3 hard hits, drew the penalty that he scored on and was basicly all over the ice..

all in all that could've been one of his best nhl games to date..

shame that the others can't connect on his passes though, or else he would put up some great numbers...

I'm excited to see what happens when AA gets back so he can center that line instead of Boyle. Zucc might rack up some serious points.

He's an RFA so they will retain his rights for sure. He's showing he can help on the PP and with some secondary scoring. If used the right way Zuke will stick in NY

No doubt, and at the least to use in a trade.

Put Zucc with Callahan already. Jesus if Zucc was with someone who could acutally score from in the front of the net like Cally could he would have another 4 assists. Guy makes perfect passes to the front of the net but yet he is passing to useless Boyle and Mitchell who couldnt hit the side of a barn.

For sure. His primary skills are as a playmaker, but they are going to waste by teammates having a problem even hitting the puck on his passes. He has shown what he can do on the PP (big upgrade, he is relieving some pressure from Richards to distribute the puck by himself) and is pretty much single handedly making his line a threat at even strength. His size is overdiscussed, he has shown he can win board battles and strip the puck from defensemen by using his high hockey IQ and heart. He doesn't seem to be a problem defensively either. It's more of a problem getting outmuscled on open ice, but it doesn't happen that often.

Zuke should stay up, we really need his scoring.

Finding a way to keep Zuccarello

Quote:
Finding a way to keep Zuccarello

The Rangers need to find a way to keep Mats Zuccarello with the organisation and in the line-up beyond this season. He provides the club with something different and can make a difference when he’s given the opportunity; as the win against the Devils showed.

Even with guys like Kreider en route there needs to be a place for the little Norwegian. Throwing Zuccarello on the ice after guys like Kreider is like a batter facing a knuckleball after countless fast balls. You have to plan differently for the nippy, much smaller Zuccarello. With his vision and passing ability there’s a different concern for a defense than with a straight-ahead-speed-merchant (with size) like Kreider. There should to be room for both.

There appears to be hope for Zuccarello, should he want to stay with the franchise and not explore other opportunities in the league (or Europe). Despite a great year collectively a few Rangers forwards have underwhelmed.

Brandon Dubinsky (better recently) has had a brutal year and clearly has a tenuous future given his presence in the Nash discussions. Artem Anisimov, a few games here and there aside, appears to have stagnated this year and isn’t as secure of his spot as he may once have been. Fedotenko looks to be getting older every game he plays.

Nice read. MZA had an awesome year last year, played very well in the AHL this year, and didn't do much earlier in the year before he was sent down because no one was scoring back in October. He was really never given a chance. However, I think his time down in the AHL has helped his confidence and decision making immensely.

He's been good on the PP, and he's playing well at ES, too. Better than I expected. I've questioned his ability to be a consistent contributor at the NHL level, and I'm not ready to eat any crow on that yet.

It'll be interesting to see what happens going forward.

He's earned the right to stay. Still worry about his ability to keep it up long term. We will see

Oh that is good to hear. I really want him to stay a Ranger. He is my favorite current player.

From Rangers tweet;

@thenyrangers: At #NYR practice Artem Anisimov skating on line with Brian Boyle and Mats Zuccarello...
