Interesting.

We'll see how this move plays out.

Not surprising....Newbury showed some grit during the preseason and if he can provide that then he will do his job. Its not like Frolov has been an offensive catalyst anyway.

I think Dupont deserved the call, but Newbury is also worthy.

LOL, Drury's wingers will now be Newbury and Weise!!! I'm not saying that he deserves anything else based on his play, but they certainly aren't going to help him find a scoring touch

This guy is Eddie Johnstone 2011. Great fighting skills always bigger guys as he is on small side. Very good hands around the net and great team first guy. The Rangers just got harder to play against once again. Not a full time NHL guy but a solid sub

Well-deserved recall for Newbury. He brings grit and can set some things up offensively. Not much of a goal scorer for the Whale this year but he's been one of their best players.

Also I like an above poster's idea of bringing Dupont up. He's been playing better lately and I think a recall would push him in the right direction. If Grachev has already had a shot in the NHL then Dupont deserves one just as much.

Newbury is a perfect fit for the 4th line on this team.

WELL DESERVED Call-up... Been watching Newbury all year in Hartford, way more deserving that Grachev...

Newbury does have nearly 50 games in the NHL... maybe not the biggest number, but not to discredit either...

hes a beast in AHL leading the team in points too. let's see what he brings. i'm sure all the positivity on the team and the general way things are going will rub off on him and hell do well.

Not sure why anyone really cares. He won't get more than 3 minutes of ice.

Newbury is the playmaker and should center that line.

Anyone else notice the ***** move by Elias? I know Elly wont fight anyone, but he had Newbury drop his gloves and then Elias LOOKED AROUND like, "Holy crap, NOW WHAT? Someone please come and save my pansy ass quickly! Oh Lord Jesus, someone come Quick!"

I know there are fighters and then there are playmakers and superstars. But one man's HEART is under fire right now. HOW as a grown assed man can you basically run away from a fight searching frantically for someone to save him infront of 30 thousand people.. Ok, Ok, it was at the Meadowlands so 4 thousand people witnessed it.

What a shame. I tell people at work all the time... you DONT have to be a prized fighter in this world, but when someone questions your heart, you put that man back down on his ass.

excited to see him play, might add some toughness that was lost with Boogaard plus alot more actual value to the team than Boogie in terms of offense, im happy with the move all around

Really hoping these guys get play time. Anybody know how he is on the penalty kill? Frolov was out for a few kills these last games, hopefully can replace him there.

now that they have a natural C in Newbury I bet Drury gets bumped up to the wing on a scoring line.

Newbury, Weise and X player won't be getting much time, Torts already barely played Weise, Should be interesting to see how he manages things in January. In Feb they should have Cally, EC and lets hope Prospal back. I don't count boogie for anything

Good callup. This guy has a good half season of NHL experience under his belt. Not sure how he is on faceoffs but with a couple kids up already there is nothing wrong with adding a little grit to the lineup.

Only wish we'd give Kennedy a shot.

I don't know about you guys, but up and down the roster we got some tough cookies wearing our jerseys.

With all the games we have coming up, the 4th line is going to need to get more than 3 minutes a game and Newbury is the type of player who can be an energy players and team guy. Torts is going to have to gain trust in 4th liners to give the other lines a breather or two. If he doesn't think Weise belongs than maybe he should tell sather to send him down and get someone who can be useful.

Cally is 2-3 weeks away
EC is at earliest 2 more likely 4 weeks away
No word on Boogard
No word on Prospal

Sjostrom was suggested in another thread, sure he wouldn't cost much and he has good speed and can kill a penalty, I am all for getting him back as long as the cost isn't much
