... scored on Jani Hurme which is like the equivalent to Vesa Toskala in NHL.

Do you guys think that he could make the NHL already next season, if keeping up the momentum and building up some muscles over the summer? I´m really excited about Joel !!!

If you ask me I think he could make it to the NHL before Granlund....

Nah, he might be tall but isnt strong enough. He might do well in Finland but he is just too light to play in NHL next season. Building some weight would help but that will most likely damage his skating so I think it will take 2 years atleast before he is NHL ready.

NHL heck no. Needs like one more year developing atleast before that, since putting too much muscle could hurt things like his speed, which is already the other reason he wouldn't have success in the NHL even though he manages in SM-liiga with that speed at the moment.

So hoping he would stay one more season here in Finland after this season before coming to NA.

Anybody care to guess at this point where he will be drafted (if he keeps this up) next year?

Does he have top 10 potential?

EDIT: Found out that he is ranked #6 overall by ISS as of now. He went from #17 to #6 in about a month's time!

Well International Scouting Service thinks he has that potential at the moment, since he was ranked sixth on the list released just the other day. And yes if he plays the rest of the season well (most of it atleast, since it is possible that he gets too tired at some point) and keeps scoring goals like he has for the past 20 games, he totally has a good shot at the top-10. A good WJC is also possible to make his chances better at being picked earlier, since he has had pretty good success so far with the Finnish U-20 guys this season.

Again 0+1 yesterday against HPK.. Skated to the back of the net and made the play to Santavuori, who scored in the 1st period.. Ässät won in overtime(Malkamäki)

I liked that flying Ilves player

I did some research:

When Armia scores a goal Ässät is 5-1-1
When Armia gets goal or assist their team is: 8-2-1

Can we say that Armia have ability to turn games into victories?

Yes we can.

And nothing wrong with two threads for Armia.

The goal scorer was changed to Nättinen, assisted by Kivistö and Rajala. The commentators were wondering did Armia touch the puck or not.

Armia have 2 goals but both waived off

In first goal puck was sliding to goal but Swiss D-men throw goal crease out of position.

In second puck was in I think. But after video review 'no goal'

Armia is fifth youngest player in WJC

Yep and then a post and another chance in the final minutes of the Slovakia-game. He has been pretty decent overall considering all the factors (age, experiences, line, etc.), but you could see Joel was a bit frustrated at the end of that last game.

I wonder how much the WJC hurt his draft status for this year? He was quite mediocre, and showed some decent skills but nothing worthy of 1st round consideration IMO.

We will likely see him again at the U-18 championships that are held in mid april. Hopefully he will continue to play well in the SM-Liiga and have a great tournament at the U-18.

I was at the Slovakia - Finland game and saw him play live. He is a good skater and is hard to move around the front of the net due to his size. He wasn't as physical as I thought he would be though, this is something he will need to work on in the coming months/years.

I still see good things in the future for this kid!
