We’re not competing, we’re not doing those little things and our work ethic is low so that’s going to be the result. With exception of the San Jose game, there hasn’t been a good effort. Home games are important. We have a good record at home. These last games, we’ve kind of let go. There’s no rhyme or reason. We need to be better, that’s the bottom line, I think. We need to have a road mentality at home."

It obviously (isn’t fun) to be booed by our own fans. They’re so supportive when we’re winning but obviously they can be critics at the same time. They pay to see us play every night so we’re going to make sure that doesn’t happen again. There’s no way we can’t win the rest of the homestand. It’s so important to win these at home because we go on the road for pretty much the whole month of February. These are really important for us and we’re going to try to figure it out."

Of course it is, but I like to think I’ve played long enough, and unfortunately I’ve had a little too much experience with injuries in this past year, to where you have to put yourself back in a situation where you’re not a liability. There’s a fine between pushing it and putting your best foot forward for the team, and putting yourself at risk. We’ve had some good skates, and once I feel comfortable in my mind with things, I don’t need a week of practice. The only way to get back and get things going is to get in a game. That’s how you get in game shape and thinking and all those things. So I’m really excited. I want to play some hockey. I haven’t played nearly enough this year. Everything happens for a reason, but I’m just really hungry to get out there and help the guys. I haven’t played a ton yet this year. I felt like I was just coming into my game, after a long, long layoff. Sometimes the season can be long and grueling, and it’s a bit of a grind, but for me, it’s probably a little bit different from these guys. I’m hungry to get out there and get playing, so I’m looking forward to it."

We’re in the middle of it right now. I go back and look at the games we’ve played recently. As I said to the team today, the Anaheim game, the game at San Jose were absolutely tremendous games. We go into Phoenix and we’re backed off on the focus. I keep calling it that mental connection, emotional connection. We’re backed off on that, and whenever you start to back away a little bit, from your focus to the game, it’s the detail part of the game that starts to fall apart. We reviewed that stuff today in our team meeting, with the video. All it is is one situation, one lost faceoff and maybe the center iceman leaves his man. That’s where the detail part changes. Chaos — it looks like chaos, but it’s not — because actually we were in pretty good shape after that one D-zone coverage where they really cycled the puck for an extended period of time, but there was no danger, there was no one in great scoring situations, we were on the right side of people. But it all started because of one breakdown. And that’s what happens whenever you’re playing against teams that are skating teams, a good team. They’re in the playoffs. They’re a good team. They recognize the opportunity and they jump on it and get themselves going with good confidence. That’s where we’ve got to bring it back here to, to the fundaments and take care of the details, be intelligent with the puck management, and we’ll get it back on track. Because it’s not that far away. That’s the point I’m trying to take to the players. It’s just this little bit of stuff that we need to be better at, and everything will fall in place."

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

As expected, Willie Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky will return tonight. The Kings will use the same top three forward lines they practiced with yesterday, and a fourth line of Kyle Clifford, Trevor Lewis and Kevin Westgarth. Brad Richardson is a healthy scratch.

On defense, it will be Rob Scuderi with Drew Doughty, Willie Mitchell with Jack Johnson, and Alec Martinez with Matt Greene. Davis Drewiske and Peter Harrold are the scratches. More notes and quotes to come…
Richardson out is a little surprise, congrats Lewis. They will probably split games with Westgarth.

Thank god for the defensive pairs.

They've had their ass kicked in 3 straight. 14-3 the last 3 games.

Let's hope the Kings aren't the slump busters again.

I cant believe Richardson is out in favor of Westgarth. Our best team (when healthy) is clearly with Richardson in there. He plays hard and actually has speed. That blows my mind that Murray isn't happy with his game of all people.

I dislike Westgarth's game 99.9% of the time, but the Jackets do roll a very physical team.

Tired of being embarrassed the Kings again turn on the "hey, why not try winning for awhile" switch and easily handle the difficulties faced when dealing with tired weak BJ's.

Cant argue that. I just don't get why Murray is so down on Richardson's game, if you read his quotes. Not that I would rather have Lewis or Clifford scratched.

how many times is it already where teams playing back-to-backs put in their back up against the kings though ANA is supposedly on the decline and their best player is out? i think the count is: every time

Clifford is vastly better than he was in October. Westgarth is also playing better hockey. I expect only 5-7 minutes from the 4th line tonight. It is up to the "stars" to win this game tonight.

Thats just Kings hockey right there. Mitchell and Ponikarovsky are back, but instead of scratching about four or five worse players than Richardson.. They scratch Richie.

Richie > Westy, Lewis, Sturm, and Clifford (though I love the guy and feels he should be in the line up every night.)

Richie has an issue.

The reason he is scratched is that he has an issue.
