Story was that the Sudbury GM was going to leave it up to Marcus.

I really hope if it's the case and he's staying that WR has another deal ready to announce.

Carrying Webermin and having a hole on the top six wing after "going all in" makes no sense.

T minus 10 minutes to the deadline.

Any contender sitting on a last minute deal as to not tip their hand?

Time's up. All deals have to be announced to the OHL offices, however paperwork can trickle in later.

A few deals still coming out.

Carrick to Windsor one rumour... makes no sense since Carrick is an OA

According to @HockeyProspect, DeSousa is Missy bound. If true the Mississauga/Niagara rivalry just got a whole lot more interesting

If we're keeping Webermin, maybe Sullivan would be dropped. I dunno. 6th defencemen don't play much in the play-offs.

WTF Mississauga? Needed one mobile dman and a high end forward would've been nice. Got a decent dman sure but with all the picks they've given up, they could've gotten a better forward and potentially one that was less than 20.

I thought they would go full out and try to go for the Mem Cup but not liking the trades too much so far.

At least Ottawa and Oshawa didn't try anything for this year though.

The picks for D'Orazio start in 2015/2016/2017. I wouldn't worry to much about those. Plus they may head back to you guys in a year or two for something of value.

Considering the 2017 pick may have just received his first of skates for Christmas.
But all whispers at the arena I hear the 2017 draft year is strong for defencemen though.

Personally I wouldn't mind a limit on how far in advance a team can trade a pick (3 years?) and maybe have teams keep a certain number of picks a year (7?)

I just think the trading have gotten totally out of control and in the long run isn't good the league.
The present GM's in all likelyhood will be long gone and won't be paying the piper when the time comes.

As a Soo Greyhound fan i ecstatic over the trades we made today...the Greyhounds added 2 "Pit Bulls" Don't know much about the defenseman Windsor sent??Plus a ton of draft picks..the future is looking a tad rosier..Think some of our smaller ...skilled forwards will probably feeling relieved.
Good luck to all the guys we traded ..they were good and solid Greyhounds..

Sullivan is an OA d-man...6'3 190lbs. He won't put up the points (handful in career), but is reasonable defensively (ignore his only game with Windsor) and is a physical presence. It's a good move for the Hounds after they dealt Carrick. Sullivan will stick up for the youngsters and provide leadership. I'm actually a bit disappointed we dealt him.

I agree Ward. It screams smart but desperation at the same time dealing a 2017 pick?? Isnt the world suppose to be coming to an end shortly???

I think there should be a limit of 3 year so 2014. It would put player value back to were it should be. Instead of a 3.5 month rent a player getting 3 2nds... IMO he's not worth that.

I understand Missy didnt go balls to the wall

but i still like the picks

in hind sight, you dont wanna screw up anything that is working, and cameron didnt wanna get rid of DeMelo or Percy

both players help us i think

my only concern is what happened to Anthony Peters

not on roster anymore????

With the 2 over age pick ups today, that put them at 4 total. They could only carry 3. Anthony Peters was the odd man out.

Libbs answered you pretty well - there were lots of graduations to the NHL/AHL this year. More than most teams, and certainly more than the Colts expected. While Alex Pietrangelo was almost certainly gone to St. Louis and Stefan Della Rovere and Alex Hutchings to the AHL, they were probably expecting at least one of Alexander Burmistrov (Atlanta) or Kyle Clifford (L.A.) back. Further, they have publicly stated that they were expecting Nick Crawford back, and I would think T.J. Brodie too.

Two of the three overagers were very strong, and Zac Rinaldo also graduated to the AHL. Finally, you had a bunch of 1990 born players, so some guys had to be moved because of their 2010-2011 overage status (Stanisz, Parks).

Anyway, the net result is a half dozen returning players, and half of them (other than Behenna, Prout and Carnevale) were insignificant last year.

In short, a completely new team.

Cheers,
Shawn

Both excellent suggestions Ward. I'd add those two plus the current OHL rule (not trading first rounders) to the NHL as well. Maybe the Leafs wouldn't be such a mess...

Cheers,
Shawn

Do NHL GM's need their hands held to go pee too? If a team wasn't to be stupid with their draft picks, it's they're own faul!
