How to get rid of Drury's contract?

Drury is on pace for 17 points this season while taking up a whopping 7M (almost 12%) of NYR's cap space. On top of that, he will be a UFA prior to the 12/13 season so he still has a couple of years left on that contract. Aside from sending him down to the AHL, is there any way for the Rangers to get rid of his contract? Or should I say, is there any team in the league that would be willing to take on that ridiculous contract?

Some possibilities:
Drury +++ for Pominville
Drury ++ for Langkow
Drury + for Rolston

I don't think the Rangers are interested in moving Drury. He has played well enough since finally taking th ice this season and this Rangers team is not conuting on him for offense. He has a bad contract and the Rangers will have to live with it.

Just waive him unless there is a salary cap in the AHL. With Redden and Drury on the Ranger's farm team they would exceed the Islanders cap!

I heard that Drury doesn't like Calgary. I know nothing specific about this, but I'm led to believe that he wouldn't waive to go there. Otherwise, I'm sure the Flames would be fine with taking him on for one year at $5 million as long as they got something tangible in return, cap space permitting. I think Edmonton would have the cap space to do so as well, though if he hates Calgary I don't know if he'd take Edmonton instead (though he survived in Buffalo...). Not sure who else has both money and cap space for a guy who's dead weight, since I don't think Toronto is on pace to be able to fit him in under the cap.

No move clause. He can't be assigned to Connecticut unless he agrees to it.

Send him to the minors with Redden and White. That would be about 16 million down there.

Idk...maybe stick with him for one more year and then not have to worry about it? It won't kill them to hang on for one more year.

Here come the stupid Drury for Komisarek proposals. Komisarek couldn't crack the Rangers top 6 on D.

$5M in salary and 1 year remaining left for $12.5M and 3 years remaining. Are the Leafs including their 2012 #1 pick in the deal?

Go look at Sather's track record with dealing off trade bad contracts.

Drury will finish out his contract with the Rangers. If they do move Drury before the expiration of his contract,it won't be for any of trash already proposed and will be proposed in this thread.

Drury controls his future with a NMC.

He has one more year after this year. Suck it up and get Sather out of there so that he doesn't resign him for a $5mil 5 year deal.

Langkow is likely done, just so you know. He probably won't come back from this injury, so that takes Calgary out of the equation.

Drury has a NMC so he isn't playing anywhere next season besides NYR unless he is bought out.

I'd take his salary on the Leafs if we could get a 1st rounder out of the deal...

Just like the 1st rounder the Rangers so willingly traded Montreal right?

Drury doesn't want to play for a Canadian team.

The only Canadian team he might waive his NMC for is Toronto, and that's because Burke is USA's GM and Wilson is USA's coach.

Think outside the box. You don't trade Drury, Sather pulls a fast one on Holmgren and acquires Briere, Drury goes back to 60-70 pt overnight.

I agree with those who say the Rangers are going to ride it out where Drury is concerned. Yes, he has a terrible contract, has been injury plagued of late, and is not a *star* offensive performer, but he does occupy an important role on the team and will be allowed to fill that role-especially since the Rangers are enjoying such a good season.

1. Take a player back who is sligthly overpaid(1 or 2 years left on deal)

2. trade him to a team that isn't fighting the cap

3. Get Drury to agree to deal(this is a sticking point since I can only see a few teams that he might agree to)

I know I may sound crazy, but I wouldn't mind Drury on the Devils... IF HE'S HEALTHY. If there wasn't some guarantee that he'd be healthy to play 75+ games, I wouldn't take him.

They could use his leadership.

But, the OP included Drury + for Rolston. I'd do that. (ONLY IF HE COULD BE HEALTHY)

Since there's no such thing as this guarantee, Iwouldn't do it, but...
