Hockey News Mock Draft

http://www.forecaster.ca/hockeynews/...aft-MockDraft1

The Hockey News published the first two rounds of their annual mock draft.

I think their Oiler picks look pretty realistic.

Would you guys be happy with -

#14 - Picard
#25 - Dubnyk
#44 - Alexandrov

We know Lowe likes Picard and Dubnyk and Oiler scouts have said they might look at taking another small player this year, so what do you guys think??

Players still on the board -

#14 - Korpikoski, Wolski, Radulov, Smid, Green, Chipchura
#25 - Wheeler, Fransson, Zajac

Thoughts????

I think it would be awesome, but I question some of the choices, like Valabik at #13.

Yeah he has some weaknesses, but 6'7 and an excellent fighter might move him up. I wouldn't pick him that early either, but some GM might just bite.

I would do a little dance. Just a little one, because I will be at work, and that sort of thing is frowned on in a lumber yard, but I would.

With the players on board I would say that would be a very good draft by the Oilers but safe as well. Dubnyk eh? I'm starting to think Scneider or Shantz would be a good option other then Dubnyk, what do you guys (and gals) think? Alexandrov at 44, well other then his size he could be that creative offense player has been needing (other then Hemsky). Overall I couldn't ask for a better day other then maybe getting another high pick for Smith. Don't get me wrong I don't want to trade Smith but he's the best leverage for a trade. A) we would make room on the defense for some of our up and coming dman B) Continue replenishing our youth, and possibly snagging a franchise player if we moved to say 7th or 8th C) save money on his contract.

THN mock is probably the one that is closest to resembling my own that I've seen so far. Dubnyk at #25 with the choices available makes a lot of sense to me. I do disagree with the Oiler's 2nd round pick though.

I agree that the Oilers proposed first two picks sound realistic, and I thought Alexandrov might be a candidate at 44 if Prender and co. really loved him seeing as how they have said they might look at a smaller player this year.

What player or type of player do you think would be more realistic at that spot??

I'll tell you on Sunday. It was off the record. There are 3 guys I'm jotting down after my discussions but at this time I'm not spilling the beans.

I'm sure you've got more info that I, but from what I've read, I'd much rather have Alexandrov at 25 than Dubnykj, so to still get him at 44 would be nice. then again, seems like I overrte small guys come draft day, so who knows (though Alexandrov is not small, small either)
