Chicago-Florida

Here are two options to discuss.

Trade #1
Florida
Jack Skille
5th Rd. Pick

Chicago
Chris Higgins
Marty Reasoner

Trade #2
Florida
C Brandon Pirri 31GMS 5/9-14
D Shawn Lalonde 31GMS 5/13-18
F Ben Smith 35GMS 7/9-16
LW Viktor Stalberg 40GMS 6/8-14

Chicago
Stephen Weiss

*AHL Stats
Everybody going Florida's way is pretty close to NHL ready.

I can't see the Panthers saying no to the first trade. Not sure if they are willing to give up on Weiss though.

THe Weiss deal isn't even close - Weiss is the Panthers #1 C, they aren't going to move him for 3 average prospects, and a 3rd/4th liner, it's a typical quantity for quality deal. The Higgins/Reasoner deal isn't too bad, but if the Panthers are going to deal those 2 players, they could get more by trading them as pieces then as a package. I could see Reasoner fetching a 2nd, or a 3rd and a prospect on his own, I'm not sure what value Higgins has, I haven't seen him play much this season

The Weiss trade is brutal. Quantity =/= Quality

I'd forget about the Weiss trade and concentrate on the Reasoner and Higgins trade (though Florida will probably want to move them separately to maximise their return).

I agree with Boondock on that one, the only way CHI could get Weiss ouf of FLA is if Kyle Beach, CHI 2011 1st + Kevin Hayes or Jeremy Morin are involved

Actually, in couple years the Hawks probably end up losers in this deal. Those are not average prospects, you're getting the Hawks best C prospect who projects as a 2nd line C and is only 19. You're getting a versatile 2-way winger in Smith. Also, Lalonde is a very impressive offensive d-man prospect who was a 2nd round pick I believe.

I highly doubt Pirri becomes anything close to Weiss in overall ability in the NHL, Lalonde is the definition of an average offensive defenseman prospect, Smith is a dime a dozen prospect. As for Pirri being the Hawks best C prospect, I think I would rather have Kruger, but that's just me.

Kruger is listed as a C but probably will play wing in the NHL.

Then the Hawks need to draft some C depth - Isn't he playing C for IF Stockholm?

For the Weiss deal you should be banned

Also Higgins and Reasoner will fetch 2/3rd round pick at deadline for sure
