Oilers try Hall at Centre

from Oilers Twitter:

Quote:
Hall centering Penner & Hemsky. Remaining #Oilers lines: Paajarvi-Gagner-Omark / Jones-Cogliano-Reddox / Jacques-Fraser-Stortini
Bout time, I say. Worth a shot, at this point of the season, when there is literally nothing to lose.

It's a great time to try it out and hopefully they stick with it for a while if it doesn't work out right away. I am confident that he could excel at this position if given a long look.

Penner-Hall-Hemsky

Now that I like. I just hope Renney doesn't change up the lines after one game if they don't do much. The Oilers have nothing to lose at this point, let them stay together for at least 3 or 4 games to see if they can get some chemistry going.

Not true: Cogliano and JFJ are still on the team.

I'd rather see Brule in Jacques' spot, but aside from that, those seem like the right lines to me, given what's available at the moment.

I love this.

I hope this is on the PP as well.

I fear how long this lasts. Instant success would give them a little more shelf time. Hope for a goal by this trio Tuesday.

about effin time.. can't wait to see how he does. Hall playing Centre will allow for more line-combinations.. i hope he excels and our need for a number 1 centre will be no more.

Love it. Who knows if it will work, but man can that guy get back on D in a hurry. I envision his number of take aways increasing substantially. If he can turn the puck over and get the puck to Hemmer in flight, we may see him banging in more rebounds instead of having to take it end to end all the time.

if it works, we have Hall, Gagner, Horc, and Lander down the middle in the next few years. That is pretty good.

If this ends up working then taking Landeskog or Larsson in the draft would make sense.

I predict 6 goals 8 assists for that line, each member of that line.

I hope it works out.

Unfortunately putting him at C takes away one of his HUGE advantages, which is his ability to burn players on the outside.

He hasn't taken many draws, but he's right behind Horcoff on our team:

Yeah. That's the trouble when your team doesn't have a third line.

Someone explain like it's hockey for dummies to me:

What are the potential PROS and CONS of this move?

I think the saddest thing about that link is Cogliano has taken the 3rd most draws at C on our team.

It will be interesting to see how he handles all the extra responsibilities at C.

If he can do decently in a two-way sense and above 45% on the dot,(I don't expect much), I'd love to see him stick for a good 5-10 games.

Does anyone no if the oilers have a face off guru n staf? If not, I think that they would be doing everyone a favour in the rebuild if they would hire someone.

I'm not crazy about Hall at center because in my mind his game is better on the wing, but I think it's great that they're trying it. I agree with most sentiments in this thread that now is the time to experiment and if it pays off it could be a brilliant move.

Can't wait to see what kind of results it brings.
