i can see them dealing a 2nd for McCabe or Kaberle. Maybe a little more but main thing is they can afford and expensive RENTAL. Key is rental

People who are saying the Rangers can NOT win with young Defensemen, I offer you this: Do you remember a certain team, I dunno, maybe 1980? You remember them, the young cocky college kids who played, let me try and remember.. oh THAT'S RIGHT, The Russians who were rated as THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD FOR YEARS AND YEARS. Now the USA College kids played their HEARTS out, but they DID win.

Now, remembering way back then, do you STILL think a young group of skilled players cant get it done for the Rangers?

Its not OPTIMAL, but it IS doable. I would save the money, save the picks and ride this sucka out. This team was NOT put together to WIN the Stanley Cup this year. Although the team is doing remarkably better than one thought in the beginning of the year. Lets DEVELOPE like we wanted to. Lets stay YOUNG. I am Estatic that Sather got the point and made a trade do to YOUTH in mind. In his conference call Sather said, " Wojtek is only 24 and Rozy is 32". Sather wanted to get younger and he accomplished that.

Would I love to "go for it" this year? Sure, but at what expense. We get a Solid Defenseman this year thats ANOTHER year a younger player (see MCD or MDZ) will not be able to get their feet wet and STICK with the Parent club (although MDZ DID have that chance, he just forgot that he NEEDED to listen to the Coach and its NOT ALL ABOUT YOU mentality must be dropped)
Stanley Cup Finals != Short-duration Olympic Tourney

FAIL.

Um, absolutely not. Not only do you steal NYs top prospect, you take away their ability to resign Dubinsky, Callahan and Anisimov because of Spaceks contract..: the Rangers will not take on any salary beyond this year.

McCabe would make the most sense IMO. Would the Rangers be willing to include a farm d-man in the deal along with a 2nd? Florida would want to replace Ellerby on the farm since he would be replacing McCabe in the lineup. Maybe a guy like Niemi would work for FL, just not sure about how much the Rangers value him.
