Anyone know what Burke's looking for? I know he overvalued Kaberle at the beginning of the season, you gotta figure he's going to unload him at some point rather than lose him for nothing.

He has some sort of NTC(NMC?). He has to okay a trade somewhere and he has repeatedly said he will not because he wants to re-sign in TO. Probably a 2nd + prospect.

Seriously, he wants to re-sign there? Wth is wrong with the guy? It's clear they don't want him. They've tried to trade him like 3x in the past year.

I don't see Carolina dealing Pitkanen. Especially to us. They're fighting for a playoff spot and we're one of the teams in their sights.
McCabe is probably our best bet and he's somewhat likely to be traded. He's not the most solid defensively but he gives us a good shot on our PP.
I dont think sather should make any move(s) just yet. He has a lot of cap space to play with. He has made one good deal imo. I think he should wait to see how the standings fizzle out as it gets closer to the deadline and more games are off the schedule. Maybe carolina is out of it and Pitkanen becomes available. Maybe someone else who no one is thinking of becomes available. I know people are excited right now, but I'm not gona worry about this until its clear what is out there and you wont really know that until the standings are a little more definitive.

I think if he can get Philips now it is totally worth it. Why not get him for more than 20 games. I also feel like Sather should have a firm grasp upon whether or not he wants to attempt a trade for Richards by now. Dallas is going to be battling for a playoff spot. Philips should be their priority.

With the Langenbruner trade I think it is clear the Stars believe they will not only get into the playoffs, but make some noise. I don't think they will trade Richards, I think they are going to keep him for a run and hope they get far and can resign him.
as for Phillips, it depends on the asking price. I'd prefer we go someone second tier like Tyutin, Kuba or Bieksa who won't cost as much as Phillips. Again it really depends on the asking price, but I assume it will be very high

McCabe is one of the worst defensemen in the league in his own end and always has been, but I'd give a 3rd for him as a rental. No more than that. It would be a big mistake, as usual, for this team to trade any 1sts or 2nds for role player rentals, but I'm sure it'll happen anyway.
