The Good:
HBL line again.
Bob recovering from a shaky start.
Richards' physicality.
Timonen.

The Bad:
Coburn. I hate to harp on this, but he was truly pitiful tonight. Carle gets so much **** around here but Coburn was BRUTAL tonight.
OD looked slow.
Slow 1st period again. Consistent problem.

Hey, Carle, Coburn, and Mes who wants to be a future top pairing guy?

Their collective response: Icky! I don't want it!

Their brains can't handle it, even though their bodies and skills could

I don't feel Coburn or Mez were bad tonight. They each didn't play their bests (both took unnecessary penalties), but they weren't terrible. Bartulis was the obvious weak link IMO. And yes, O'Donnell was slow, but he is generally a slow skater. He makes up for it with his positioning though, and I felt he had a strong game.

At the game today! The Flyers played alright. The first 10 was brutal but after that they settled down, Bob got in a groove and the rest is history!

he had a bad one on Saturday as well against the Devils.

good job by the boys tonight. Quite the turnaround after some posters around here thought we would get run out of the building in the first period. Bobs settled down, and the HBL line continues to torment the opposition.

Meh. Carle and Coburn both get harped on a lot and practically nobody thinks that they're capable of being top pairing guys anymore.

I didn't give up because I know this is a good team with a good coach, both of which have proven themselves more then capable of coming back from behind this year.

Plus it helps that Buffalo is a **** team.

Whenever we need a goal, that line puts together a shift or somehow gets the momentum back.

I've slowly gone from a "it'd be nice to resign Leino" guy to a "this guy seriously needs to be retained" guy because as you point out, I think everything this team does, from the forecheck, to Richie and Carter focusing on D, and etc. really comes back to that 1 line.
Good point. Now that I think about it, Leino has become a must-sign player now.

Great game. Caught the 2nd and 3rd period at a buddy's house.

I love Powe. Really. He gives 100% every game. But Richie really needs someone he can pass to that will finish. Scratch Shelley, move Powe to the 4th line, and put Z in his spot. DO IT LAVI.

Not that it really mattered, but does the puck hitting off Miller's glove cancel the highstick by Giroux?

Worst thing was, Giroux didn't high stick it. He batted it out of the air onto JVRS stick. All below the cross bar

I just finished watching the game. After that horrible start, we played pretty well. Brière was a force. Hartnell with two goals and a nice fight. Bobrovsky had a really good game as well, apart from the times he tried to play the puck, he needs to work on that.

Timonen is being Timonen and JvR deserved a goal (Carter might as well).

I'm starting to suspect that the players intentionally mess around for the first period because they find Laviolette's intermission tirades so entertaining.

If anybody missed that ridiculous all air goal that touched Carter, Giroux, Miller and JVR before being swatted in without ever hitting the ground, take another look. Too bad it didn't count. Don't think Giroux's stick was above the crossbar, but alas.

Edit: Scratch that. High-sticking the puck is when the player plays the puck above the shoulders. Not the crossbar. That should have been a good goal.

It should. There's some funny business about whether goalie equipment counts as much for rules as skater's sticks, but I don't see any reason why that would be the case here.

So I just realized Hartnell had the Gordie Howe Hattrick. Didn't notice he had an assist until now.
