Draper to Ottawa or Toronto?

http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Ottawa...25/512963.html

Consider the source being the myth, the man, the legend, Bruce Garrioch, but he's assertintg the near three million dollar potential price tag for soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Kris Draper is too rich for the blood of Ken Holland. That's where the Ottawa Senators, who potentially could be shedding both Radek Bonk and Peter Bondra, and the Toronto Maple Leafs who could lose Joe Nieuwendyk, would step in.

It's difficult to fathom why Detroit would cut ties with the Selke-winning forward, especially when he played quite well during their playoff push.

It he does leave, I could see him going to one of the Ontario teams since he's a Toronto boy. I really hope it doesn't come to that. Holland would catch a lot of grief in Detroit if he lets him go after the season he had. He could be the future captain of the Wings...I'd like to think they'll make every effort to sign him.

As unlikely as it might seem I don't know if he would really help the Sens.
If he does sign with Ottawa I could see him as a better version of the Todd Marchant in his Columbus days with having a career year and then going for the big bucks but he sure as hell doesn't push them over the top (or for that matter become their number one center).

I don't know how reliable the Ottawa Sun is but Draper said he was close to signing with Detroit. I hope its for 3.0 million or less. It'll prolly be like Hatcher's and Whitney's contract. More every year.

Holland will be under alot of pressure to re-sign Draper who is a fan favorite and a media favorite. I will be really disapointed if Holland can not get him signed.

I still think Drapers wants to stay in Detroit. And everything i heard locally was that they were close to a new deal.

...and Drapers very good buddy Maltby has signed a new deal during the season.
Might also effect Drapes decision.
