Evgeny Dadonov Selected As All-Star Rookie, NO Regulars Selected for Game

Congrats to Dadonov! He's had a great season so far and is one of the better draft picks we've had in recent times. Dadonov will only participate in the Superskills Competition, doesn't appear to be a rookie game, but I find that [superskills] to be the best part of the weekend.

FYI, no Panthers were selected for the All-Star Game itself, which is fair, I think only Vokoun would come close and frankly there are better choices out there this season.

LOL, I was just about to post this very same topic but you beat me to it. I actually think it's very sad that not ONE SINGLE Panther has been selected for the All-Star game. Congrads to Dadanov, who did earn it (although he should be in the rookie game) but really?Weiss?Booth?Reasoner? these players haven't been that bad this year and although they are no Ovy, that doesn't mean they don't work hard every game and deserve a spot on the NHL roster. After all, every team gets a player on the roster, so.

It's the ALL STAR game, not the pretty decent player show.

Congrats to Dadanov! He's one of the few players we can really look forward to seeing how he develops for years to come and hopefully makes an impact on the team's future. I'm not surprised that there's nobody making the all-star game. Besides Vokoun, I don't think anyone else was close to worth it compared to the other talent in the league.

The average NHLer works hard every game, that doesn't mean he is an all-star. Out of the players you mentioned, only one of them is on pace for more than 50 points. That is not all-star production.

Giroux was the only Flyer picked for the actual "All-Star" game. I mean, one of the best teams in the NHL, with Carter, Richards, Pronger, etc. only had one guy picked. Just ridiculous the whole thing.

The love for the Penguins is ridiculous.

There are more deserving candidates than Evgeni Malkin. Ondrej Pavelec should be in there over Marc-Andre Fluery.

Ales Hemsky has no business being in the game, considering the Oilers are horrible, and they already have two rookie representatives. Hemsky has 24 points in 27 games. Why did he make it?

Actually YEAH, I am!! I thought there was a rule that each team gets represented in the All-Star game and I am not talking about the Rookie skills competition. What happened to that? As happy as I am to see Dadanov in the All-Star game (hope he wins something) Shouldn't someone else be in the REAL All-Star game?

Because if you rearrange the letters in "M. Santorelli" you get "I'm N All Ster"

Other than that, there is no reason.

Flyers only have one, Giroux, whole thing is a joke the way players are selected. No one should be surprised, or take any issues with it. Richards should be there, imo.

If any Panthers were actually selected for the All-Star game, that's what would have been wrong.

The only players I think people can have a legitimate issue with are Backes and Kessel. You can explain Kessel's inclusion simply because he is a Leaf, and the All-Star game is largely a media event. You can't very well exclude every member of the team with the largest fanbase. Backes? I don't know. I guess seeing as how St. Louis has no rookie or defenseman or goalie named, they had to go with him.

Weiss,Frolik, Santorelli, and Booth are OUR all-stars.Even Vokoun deserves to be in it because he is an All-Star (although most hate him on our boards). Like I said before, doesn't every team get represented in the All-Star game? Since when does the Rookie competition count as The All-Star game?

So, Hemsky gets in cause he had an injury?

I get your point, but i'm just pointing out the flawed nature of the all-star game (as most people in this thread are doing). You get to watch players play half-assed in a game that doesn't matter while the fans hope their best players don't somehow get injured. Fans also spend the weeks leading up to the ASG debating whether or not it's even good to have a player in the game.

The ONLY good part of the All Star Games of the past has been the skills competition. Everything else is worth skipping.

If they make the game worth something somehow, then maybe i'll find some time to watch it.

Hemsky's only played 27 games, which makes his Point-per-game average much better than where Weiss or Frolik are at. Plus Hemsky has proven he's a highly-skilled player in the past, he's fun to watch, and there are no other good options in EDM for an all-star. Does he deserve it all the way? Ehhh probably not, but Weiss, Frolik or Booth do not deserve to be there either and Hemsky is a more legit pick than any of those 3.

Santorelli's on pace for 41 points. Being a 20 goal scorer in the NHL does not constitute being an all-star. I do think he's been a great surprise though. Booth is on pace for around 40 points, and Weiss is on pace for just over 50. Those are not all-star caliber numbers and by admitting guys like that even as our team's only representative, they'd be making the all-star game an even bigger joke than it is.
