2.5, at least until we see the results of the O's and Yankees vs Rays. Right now the O's are tied in the 7th inning in Toronto, and Yankees and Rays are tied in the 5th.

EDIT: O's lost, and the Yankees are winning. So not a bad day, the Angels beat the A's, the O's lose, and the Rays lose. But the Yankees won. So the Angels stay 2.5 games back. They just claw and claw their way up but it feels like they're going no where.

Great game tonight and Santana keeps on dealing. Team is gonna need him, especially with Weaver's scrawny biceps...

Trout starts the game with a homer, and ends the game by robbing Prince Fielder of a homer. In yo face, Cabrera.

2 games back.

Why? Why not enjoy a team winning, even if their chances are slim?

They were eight out of the wildcard not even a week ago. They are 2 out now. This is the best time of the season to get hot.

I'd love to see them pull a LA Kings, squeeze into the playoffs, and dominate. I bet they fall apart, though. If this season has proved anything, it's that the Angels are horribly inconsistent. Although everyone, even CJ Wilson and Vernon Wells looked great tonight.

You mean like when the Angels won their championship in 2002?

The Angels have been more streaky than inconsistent. Before all-star break, the Angels were en fuego with Downs and Frieri nearly impossible to hit at. But coming out of the break, the angels stumbled and so did their new acquisition of Greinke. But Greinke has settled down a lot (not pressing) while both Haren and Santana are throwing great games as of late. The whole team is hitting in stride.

I hate to say this, but Vernon has been slowly showing up to games. And with Trumbo hitting a terrible slump, Vernon has come up well in offense as well as defense. (He ran down two big flies that I didn't think he had business running down, and yet he accomplished said feat!) Putting Garrett Richards in the pen was a very good move by Sosh.

The Angels have enough hitting, pitching, and defense to power through onto the playoffs. in the past 17 games, after that terrible four game losing streak, the Angels have put up a 14-3 record. After the Detroit series, the A's come to town for a four game stint. A wild card spot is becoming so, so close!

I was just using a more recent example.

I agree though, the team as a whole has come through big in the past couple weeks. When one part stumbles, like the pitching, the another part, offense, picks up their game. Which the opposite was a huge problem when they were slumping, as in both pitching and hitting "f'd" up simultaneously. They're definitely firing on all cylinders right now, but I just hope they stay this way for the rest of the season, and not fall apart like they've done a couple times before, in this very season.

Sorry if I sounded snappy, but I kinda don't like the Kings and avoid any references to them if I can. LoL

Why did Sosh think that Williams was a good idea. I'd have rather played Santana or Wilson on one less day rest than start Williams. Such a shame, he was pretty good last season. Of course I'm probably missing something, and this sounds absurd.

Just awful... Tying run on 3rd with no outs and can't get him in. That cannot happen, especially at this point in the season and with our current position.

Sosh has this thing about playing veterans when they don't deserve to be playing. See Abreu, Wells and Isringhausen (sp?). Garrett Richards was available. Yet, the game wasn't blown by Williams, but rather our bullpen gave up 2 runs at the top of the ninth. Also, with no outs and a man on third, the following hitters did not do their job to sacrifice fly in a run. Here's looking at Kendrys and Kendrick. Then again, could a double play have been avoided if speedster Borjous was sent to steal 2nd base?

This team is streaky. Now if they can only pull themselves together quickly and start another winning streak tonight would make Angel fans happy, including myself.

It would be so sweet to knock the Yankees out of this thing and get 3 AL west teams in the playoffs, and not have the Yankees, Red Sox, or Rays in it.

I might have to jump on the Fire Sosh bandwagon after tonight!!!!!!

Crazy Zack is dealing into the 9th and what does Sosh do after he gives up 1 hit with 1 out? Pull him of course!

Hmmmmm........Butler had not even touched the ball against Crazy Zack so lets pull him and put in Ernesto the day after he threw 30 pitches.....good plan.

Man Sosh does not have any faith in his starters. He has not handled them at all very well this season.

Very Frustrating!

Yeah, Frieri was not the best choice. He threw 30 pitches last night for a reason. They were tracking the ball off of him, real well last night, and he's lucky that they didn't score then. The luck ran out tonight. That's as bad as taking Lackey out.

We're creeping up as either the O's or A's will be losing today with our win today. I don't know if they want to win out.
