He said there were multiple deals, I'm saying the only players that fit his criteria are those two, not that they'd both be going to Carolina.
No problem. I am just trying to figure the Canes' POV. That analysis yielded a need of NHL-ready dmen at the lower end of the salary range (eg Joslin).
Thanks for the reminder that it might be multiple deals.
Nothing official yet, but I do get the sense that if that one report proves to be accurate and Ian White is heading to the Sharks from Carolina, that would make the front office very happy.
I also get the sense that Carolina may be talking with as many as three other teams.
The Joslin trade, by the way, is considered a separate deal and reportedly done in order to clear a roster spot for Justin Braun.
Oh man oh man oh man...Braun is coming back up. Joslin probably part of a deal to some other team? The mystery is killing me!
James Wright? Kickass. He's an ex-Giant and is a solid 3rd liner on potential.

Got word that San Jose has a deal in place to send Torrey Mitchell to TBL for Alex Killorn and James Wright.
Again, take it for what its worth.
Got word from where? Link?
FWIW, this would be an awesome move. I like both Killorn and Wright, Wright especially but Killorn is nothing to sneeze at either.
I'm not the biggest guy on prospects, but if this is true, why does it feel like the return for a salary dump move in Torrey Mitchell is higher than when we dumped Ehrhoff??

I wouldn't put much stock in it right now. I agree that Mitchell seems to be the guy on the way out with Ferriero's call up but who knows if there's any deal out there yet. If that deal was anywhere close to being done, Demers wouldn't have been sent to Stockton.
However, even with Ferriero up and Mitchell potentially out, I would feel more comfortable if the Sharks made another move up front while moving Huskins or Wallin out. The 3rd line is good with Clowe-Couture-Wellwood but Mitchell or Ferriero on the 2nd line with Heatley and Pavelski is not ideal from my perspective. Another trade with Carolina could be the ticket with that perspective. Jussi Jokinen or Chad Larose would be nice fits potentially.
Oh totally. He would be a great addition. But I don't see why Carolina are selling though. What would they want in return - Mitchell? It's not helping them this year.
Cap hit isn't a problem with Jokinen--prying him away from Carolina without an overpayment will be. He's done really well there and I'm sure they're trying to re-sign him.

Well, I don't know what Carolina's stance is on Jokinen but if they're cutting salary, moving him out now would be wise for them in that aspect. They wouldn't be interested in Mitchell for sure but I'm assuming Mitchell would be moved in another deal. Hell, Ferriero might even be interesting for the Canes.

Not saying this is a good deal, but if Niity is out for a long period of time, does anyone see us going after Leclaire? Anderson and Lehner seems like the tandem the Sens will roll with.

I'd talk to New Jersey about acquiring Andy Greene and Johan Hedberg. They would take a dump from us and likely not ask for a whole lot in return. Hedberg would be a good guy in the backup role.
