With the horrible turnovers it doesn't really matter who is in net. I am hoping though that because this is Lehner's first start, the Sens are going to want to try and play as best they can to not turn the puck over for him. And hey, its the Islanders, this is pretty much an AHL matchup.

I don't know about that. The Isles are a team on the rise, while we are in a tailspin.

Should be a good preview of where we might be in a couple of seasons.

Ottawa is not in a tailspin and no tonight is not really a fair look into the future. If they had most of there young players up then yes but most of team yous ee tonight likely will be much much different next year.

We are not in a tailspin?

Have you looked at the standings recently?

2-5-3 in the last 10 and lost 2 in a row. If not for the loser points we'd be 2-8.

What do you call that?

Well, what would you describe it as then?

I'd definitely say we're a team on the decline right now, that's for sure.

To clarify more, I meant it as in Sens vs. Isles is like an AHL matchup looking at both rosters, so its not even like Lehner is playing in an NHL game.

A team on the decline yes and no while yes there not like they were in 2007 but they do have a fair amount of young players so no i would not say that is a team in a decline in that sense. There a bad team this year there is no other way to cut it they should be be better next year they have a bright future there is no question about that.

so best case scenario, no goals scored for either team, then we lose in the shootout?

This is a potential loss of 4 points :-)

Hopefully Lehner isn't shelled...maybe we can play some defense this game..what a concept

tell me again why we aren't starting and ending with the trap right now?
ahhh coaching......

PREACH ON!!!

....I was there when they sucked before...and I'll be there when they suck again.
I've been rediculed by leafs fans when I lived in toronto and we got spanked regularly in the playoffs...always wore my jersey the next day with pride.

hold strong everybody, we're gonna get through this

We are definitely a team on the decline and I don't think there's any doubt about that. Alfie is the poster boy for that right now. His game has declined and it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Yes, we do have some young players but only Karlsson looks like he'll be here to stay for sure. Foligno and Regin are the only other 2 that might but they've been VERY disappointing this year. Cowen, Rundblad and Wiercioch have yet to play a game in the NHL and Lehner is playing his very first tonight. Until some talent is added up front, then we will continue to struggle imo and we won't be a team on the rise until that happens.

Again it depends how you look at it prospect wise ottawa is in good shape they aslo could have a top 5 pick this year.As a rule teams build from the back out you have a good solid defense that alone will help.If ottawa did not have any young players and no pick then that would be reason for major concern.

Shootout would make it a 3 point game. If it goes to OT/SO, we may as well win it.

so 2-1 Boatmen, and Locke gets the sens goal on the PP....

(disclaimer--the idea of cheering for our team to lose is deplorable, I know....2 minutes by myself, I feel shame.)

Agree, not to say that the players are pakcing it in, in front of Elliott, but I got a feeling there going to play real hard in front of LEhner

it's hard to hate on them if they show effort and still lose...I can live with that till the off-season...nobody wants to see their team get run over

when the Melnyk told the fans to buckle up, he wasn't joking...

I just wish CC could let the lines BE for an entire game......who knows, they may actually start to get some chemistry going...

The Score ticker says that Karlsson is questionable for tonight's game saying that he has some sort of foot injury. I haven't heard this anywhere else?

Corey Locke will score a goal tonight, and EK will provide the pass.
