I refuse to ever cheer for the Leafs no matter how much it benefits us.

I only heard they asked Murray again if he went to Melnyk to have CC fired and he denied it again.

Biggest problem in Ottawa is they haven't officially decided if Murray is the GM next year. Whoever the GM is will need to decide who the coaching staff will be and the plan going forward.

Then they'll need to decide who the 'core players' are going forward.

Calgary has already made that break by sacking Sutter. The Flames have 11 NTCs, be glad that Murray didn't hand out that many.

Great night for teams around us. Car, NYI, Fla all win. Leafs send it to OT.

Melnyk could be finalizing a deal, or interviewing/meeting with, potential GMs. Maybe a coach as well? Who knows

This.

Just because we haven't been told about any future plans doesn't mean the organization doesn't have any.

I would be blown away to learn that Melnyk & Murray haven't made decisions about the GM position, one way or the other, going forward.

The Kings also seem to have our Power Play bell thing. Is it something standard?

Also nice hit by Doughty.

Also, that was a Stefan-esque moment there. Gilbert overskates the puck lying in the slot just waiting to be flicked in, play goes the other way to Brown out of the box, to Stoll on a breakaway, into the net.

They were referring to the story Steve Simmons broke during the WJC. Nothing was mentioned about today. This story is two week olds now. Pierre Lebrun said he talked to Murray today about the previous reports. This apparently went down the first week of December.

Good Lord people, clean you're ears.

Lebrun starts around the 4 minute mark.

Here is the original Simmons article.

Posted the wrong Simmons article. It was from his blog dated Jan. 3rd.

Yes. Not in every rink, but I definitely notice it a lot watching games on CI. There's slightly different versions of it.

Ya know, it's been a rough year. I still watch every game and I've resigned myself to accept the fact that they won't make the playoffs (yes I had them pegged to miss the playoffs from the onset but I still hoped to be proven wrong). I'm ok with losses now which is not a good way to cheer your team on but for whatever reason I still want the Leafs to lose and the Sens to finish ahead of them. It's ****ed up but I don't want the Leafs to win more than us even if it means 1 spot in the standings.

I hope we move some guys soon and get some clear direction re. the coach and GM so we have a new plan to look forward to. I guess I will cheer for the Canucks in the playoffs or depending on which teams our vets get traded to, maybe one of those teams.

I doubt Melnyk is doing this and at the same time telling Murray to dump salary, doesn't make a lot of sense.

I just don't believe Melnyk has decided to fire anyone yet, and he probably won't. He just won't renew contracts at year end, then hire.

Not a good strategy. You want someone other than Murray trading away guys, the returns or moves may not be ones the new GM can endorse.

But the problems in this franchise start at the top(GM), in my view.

Even if it somehow means the difference between a Cup and a finalist?

Unless there is no change at the GM job or Tim Murray takes over. I also don't think there will be a lot of changes but there may be a few & any new GM will just have to live with it the way Murray had to live with all of Muckler's **** ups. I think they will be happy to have a new GM job rather than complain about previous management.

Holy crap Patrick Marleau has played 1000 games in the NHL?!

I'm not the biggest expert but that one really took me by surprise!

HA!!

St. Louis just can't catch a break! Wellwood claimed by San Jose ****in' allstars

Think Nashville and San Jose claimed Svatos and Wellwood in order to ensure St. Louis doesn't get any more forward depth? Especially since San Jose is in the hunt alongside St. Louis

If he couldn't cut it in the the KHL, what makes you think he'd work out here. I don't see the blues worrying about it at all.

Actually I think he had 4 points in 2 games or something like that. He was released because the khl team decided to use their import spot on a defenseman.
