Also, that was a Stefan-esque moment there. Gilbert overskates the puck lying in the slot just waiting to be flicked in, play goes the other way to Brown out of the box, to Stoll on a breakaway, into the net.
anyone watching the hotstove? They say Murray went to Melnyk about firing Clouston earlier today. Apperently it was denied
They were referring to the story Steve Simmons broke during the WJC. Nothing was mentioned about today. This story is two week olds now. Pierre Lebrun said he talked to Murray today about the previous reports. This apparently went down the first week of December.
Ya know, it's been a rough year. I still watch every game and I've resigned myself to accept the fact that they won't make the playoffs (yes I had them pegged to miss the playoffs from the onset but I still hoped to be proven wrong). I'm ok with losses now which is not a good way to cheer your team on but for whatever reason I still want the Leafs to lose and the Sens to finish ahead of them. It's ****ed up but I don't want the Leafs to win more than us even if it means 1 spot in the standings.
I hope we move some guys soon and get some clear direction re. the coach and GM so we have a new plan to look forward to. I guess I will cheer for the Canucks in the playoffs or depending on which teams our vets get traded to, maybe one of those teams.
Not a good strategy. You want someone other than Murray trading away guys, the returns or moves may not be ones the new GM can endorse.
But the problems in this franchise start at the top(GM), in my view.
Unless there is no change at the GM job or Tim Murray takes over. I also don't think there will be a lot of changes but there may be a few & any new GM will just have to live with it the way Murray had to live with all of Muckler's **** ups. I think they will be happy to have a new GM job rather than complain about previous management.
