Make the sacrifice to the hockey gods.

Get drunk a lot during the next few weeks, and before you know it, it will be the draft and we will all have forgotten the last 20 games of the season.

And we'll have an awesome draft pick, and hopefully somebody who can step in very soon.
I still 100% believe you NEVER lose on purpose. That's just bad karma.

well you have to think that if you have a bunch of players willing to lose for a better draft pick they'll be willing to lose for other "practical" reasons such as to benefit them in other "long term" ways such as taking money to throw games or sandbag in the future. Its just good personal strategy to supplement your income by taking a bad penalty here or there when asked to get the other team a boost.

Yeah with Leipold looking to "rebuild on the fly" and already losing money on the team, I don't see him risking losing even more of the fans' good will by tanking.

That said, these last few games they've sure looked like a team losing on purpose...

Blah blah blah. I'm not talking about throwing games.

Just hoping we go 2-6 to finish the season.

2011 Entry Draft Scouting Report/Video Index Thread

I'm sure this will get merged with the other thread, but I thought it was noteworthy to start putting scouting reports/videos of draft eligibles in a thread so we can all become learned on who we could take in June.

Can this get stickied?

Scouting Reports:

QMJHL Roundup

Ryan Sproul
Top WHL D-Man: Musil/Siemens/Morrow

I'll keep updating this page as I go.

You guys are talking about tanking.

Well that ship sailed a long time ago. And guess what? We're just going through the same process. Just rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.

Let me put it another way. Getting a shot at picking in the top-8 will require Toronto, Columbus, and St Louis to pass us in the final rankings.

That will require us to go something like 2-6 over the final 8 games. End up with 82 points.

"Trying to win" the rest of our games will make us go 4-4, or maybe 4-3-1. End up with 84 or 85 points.

So, difference between "tanking" - where we would have good chance of grabbing an elite forward talent, and "normal" - where we would have a chance at grab an elite Dman or good forward talent, is losing two games, preferably to St. Louis. .

Losing two more games than normal is a low, low cost to moving up 2-3 spots in this draft.

It doesn't matter at this point but this team should go 8-0 the rest of the way if they can. If they can't...who cares but you don't purposely try to lose 6 games to jockey for a better draft position or that's what everyone here tells me.

GMs trade away valuable youth and picks and sign bad UFA contracts all the time in order to improve their club.

There are far costlier methods of improving the team than "hoping" that the Wild lose both games to St. Louis.

Like I said, I don't think they should throw the games. I don't think they shouldn't try to win.

I just going to stop being upset when they lose and actually be a little happy.

I thought this is what the Wild have been doing these last two weeks.

I'm going to go ahead and merge this into the other thread DeuceUNO. However, all your prospect updates will be placed in the opening post as an area for one stop browsing. Feel free to post them as you come by and we can add them to the opening post.

I agree to that, and if we can try to pick up some more picks by dumping Schultz, lets do it.

Sorry SchultzFan, but Nick has done nothing but REgress dramatically the last two years. He needs to go, while we can still get a bit of value for him.

I don't think that at all. Last year Schultz was not good. This year he's been one of the most consistent defensemen in his end. A big part is Rick Wilson.

Watching Armia's highlights, I would NOT be upset drafting that kid in the high teens, if that's where we end up. He's got size, a shot, and drives to the net. Reminds me a bit of Marian Hossa in terms of his shooting actually. Has a bit of flash to him too, which is nice.

Other comparisons made in the Prospect forum thread were Jagr, Semin and Olli Jokinen. If he progresses to the same level on any of these players we've got a keeper if we should draft him. But I'm kinda torn apart, even as a casual Minn fan who is finn I wouldn't necessarily want to put all egs into the one basket i.e. finns. Finns don't usually project to NHL game that well

Well the thing I like about him is that he has a set of balls on him when he plays. Semin is a good comparison too, that long stick and wrist shot with the hands close together, not physical but not too much of a perimeter guy, good offensive hockey sense, bigger size but not really a hitter, etc.

Huberdeau. Huberdeau. Huberdeau. Huberdeau.

He's still on the light-side, but he's got a good frame and tons of skill.

Imagine him and Granlund joining this team. Awesome.

Another thread which suggests the Islanders and Devils might go after Hamilton and Murphy. Add the fact that Larsson won't get past Edmonton/Colorado.

Here's to hoping that three Dmen are gone by 7.

Not a bad list there...I think Armia is a bit too high because he is so raw a prospect. Maybe bump Murphy up to 9 and put Brandon Saad at 10.

Realistically we should get a nice player if we're drafting around 10-12.
