Pick 5 players who won't be Flames at end of year

Pick 5 players who won't be Flames at the end of the year and pick their new team. Give yourself 1 point for guessing the player and 2 points for picking the new team. Add up your points after the trade deadline.

Here goes:

Hagman - Nashville
Glencross - Phoenix
Regehr - Boston
Morrisson - Vancouver
Babchuk - San Jose

If you mean trade wise at the deadline then:

Babchuk
Glenncross
Regehr
Moss
Morrison

Staios, Morrison, Glencross, Babchuck, Tangauy, Conroy, Karlsson and Pardy are all UFA's and only Karlsson is likely to be back.

Why would Regehr go to Boston when they're looking for a goal scoring PMD

Why does everyone think Glencross is gone? I would WAY rather have him than a 2nd or 3rd.

Same. I'm hoping he's re-signed.

At the deadline I'm guessing there won't be too many large contracts going out. Babchuk and maybe Hagman are my guesses. Maybe one of our more well-paid players (Regehr/Bourque), and if we're really really lucky, one of our dead weight contracts - Kotalik, Sarich, Stajan.

And if you get 12 points because we somehow ended up with Kovalchuk, I'll be pissed!

Because;
A) he does not seem happy under sutter. (seems to think he's a top 6 player)
which brings me to
B) He's going to ask top 6 money, which i'd rather we not overpay him.

My list;

Staios
Morrison
Glencross
Babchuk
Moss

morrison, regehr/sarich, moss, stajan, and hopefully staios.

iam only really hoping for staios to be gone, the rest i feel are the guys we'd likely offload at the deadline. also agree glencross will garner some interest.

such a side note. heard on x92.9 that gm's have been saying when they contact the flames regarding iginla conversations are pretty short, and feaster isnt entertaining those talks. i know x92.9 is not a credible source at all, but i also dont see why they would bother making stuff up either, arent exactly the biggest on sports. just thought it was worth mentioning

I'd like to keep him but he will probably want a raise we can't afford. Babchuk will probably be the same story.

Glencross, Babchuk, Staios, Conroy, Morrison, Langkow

Does not seem happy under Sutter? How do you figure? Aside from being angry (as he should have been) that he was benched a couple weeks ago, we've seen nothing to suggest he's unhappy under Sutter. Nor have I ever heard of anything to suggest he has a problem with where he's playing, in the top or bottom six.

he is this years Nystrom... he will want more than he is worth... I think Glencross is going to ask for a substantial raise... he came here and got 1.2 million as a late blooming 25 year old who was an unestablished 3rd liner with one 15 goal season who did not kill penalties... now going into this contract he is a 28 year old proven 15 goal scorer and #1 penalty killer who is a threat when short handed... I can see him asking for 2.5-3 million pretty easily... especially when a comparable (but older) player in Cullen received 3 years @ 3.5 million just last summer... i would rather let him walk than pay him more than $2 million

If that happens, I swear I'll get myself banned from HFBoards. Hell, I'll just switch team allegiances to Atlanta temporarily too, since they're my secondary team, and I'll do it for 10+ seasons til Flames run out the contract.

Say this with me: The Flames are rebuilding. How does a team rebuild? Is it by giving 3-year 7-9M dollar contracts to a guy who is ostensibly Freddie Sjostrom, who makes a third of that? No. You rebuild through the draft.

Everyone knows the famous 'Ryder, Halak and a 2nd' where the 2nd turns into PK Subban. You can get tremendous value in the 2nd round, and Glencross is worth a 2nd to the right team. Langenbrunner got a 3rd, and Glencross is a much better player right now than Langenbrunner, leadership and Cup experience aside. Domenic Moore has been traded for more 2nd round picks than I can remember. Philly, Pittsburgh, Chicago, any number of contending teams probably have Glencross on their radar, and the Flames should take whichever is likely to be the highest 2nd rounder they can get.

So while I won't pretend to know WHERE all these players are going...

Glencross- Gone, 2nd round pick
Regehr- Gone, prospect and 1st round pick
Morrison- Gone, 2nd round pick if his offense picks up before/around the deadline, 3rd if it doesn't.
Babchuk- Gone, see Morrison.
Hagman- Gone, see Morrison/Babchuk. Farewell Captain Clutch.

I know it's pick five, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Moss were moved at the deadline, if Iginla/Tangs weren't brought back, and then we have the obvious Pardy/Staios/Maybe Sarich types who almost certainly won't be back.
