Two players with attitude problems.

Nothing trade really.

from capgeek

Fabian Brunnstrom is on a one-way contract worth $675,000. He's an RFA on July 1

... meh, nothing too big. Bust for bust (as of now, maybe this'll help their careers).

I also thought it was Brunnstrom for Grabovski

As a non-Leaf fan, that would've been an hilarious trade

Decent trade by burke I think. Looks to me like Step wasn't gonna do anything in the NHL and probably be a KHL player. Brunnstrom at least can be a project player.

I like it as a Leaf fan. Fabian is a reclamation prospect, but Stefanovich was useless to us (overhyped and attitude problem).

I actually tihnk both team benefit from this the more i think about it...

Leafs fans calling it a decent trade then will be asking for his head in a couple of weeks.

Works for me. We trade a bust without NHL experience in the KHL for a bust with NHL experience.

Why? We traded basically a non-factor prospect for him... Even if Brunnstrom does absolutely nothing, we break even..

Me too, nearly shat my pants on the spot seeing this from the main boards. I remember reading an article regarding Stefanovich's attitude and desire to play elsewhere, not too concerned about this trade.

Watch out! Now that Brunnstrom is a Leaf he will turn his career around and be a star winger.

Honestly, the Leafs gave a guy much like Brunnstrom. Stefanovich has a good skillset but it likely won't transpire into much at the NHL level. The Leafs have nothing to lose in this deal but most likely nothing much will come out of it. This could be Brunnstrom's last kick at the can or its back to Sweden.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he surprises me

I saw Stefanovich play with the Quebec Remparts and I thought he was going to be great with the Leafs.

Oh well.

Well, I guess Stefanovich is a bust now. Good to see Brunnstrom is back to being a young player with potential once again.

Interesting.

On one hand, you could say Fabian never really got much of a fair shake in Dallas; too low on the depth chart, and under Tippett he would ride the pine while Mark Parrish was on the PP. But I guess management saw enough of him that they realized he didn't fit into future plans, and this year he even passed through waivers unclaimed so I guess the rest of the league thought the same. Makes me wonder why didn't Burke get him then.

Either way, Brunnstrom didn't do much in the AHL either, .5 ppg I think. Definitely needed a change of scenery, and I'm sure he's happy to go to the other place that was atop his list when he first came over here.

Don't know anything about Stefanovich, we'll see what he does in the minors I guess. Dallas is low on RW's (Langenbrunner, Barch, recently-waived Burish, and that's about it), so maybe he'll get a call-up or two.

Fair deal for now.

Brunnstrom essentially cost nothing for TOR to pickup. Stefanovich was a throw in so TOR could free up inventory space within the 50-contract limit. He's currently playing in the KHL and won't cost DAL a cent.

Why does Brunnstrom have no 10/11 stats, where is he?
