As a non-Leaf fan, that would've been an hilarious trade
Me too, nearly shat my pants on the spot seeing this from the main boards. I remember reading an article regarding Stefanovich's attitude and desire to play elsewhere, not too concerned about this trade.
Oh no, will the Coyotes have to face Brunnstrom tonight? A talent that needs to be prepared and game planned for.
Watch out! Now that Brunnstrom is a Leaf he will turn his career around and be a star winger.
Honestly, the Leafs gave a guy much like Brunnstrom. Stefanovich has a good skillset but it likely won't transpire into much at the NHL level. The Leafs have nothing to lose in this deal but most likely nothing much will come out of it. This could be Brunnstrom's last kick at the can or its back to Sweden.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he surprises me
On one hand, you could say Fabian never really got much of a fair shake in Dallas; too low on the depth chart, and under Tippett he would ride the pine while Mark Parrish was on the PP. But I guess management saw enough of him that they realized he didn't fit into future plans, and this year he even passed through waivers unclaimed so I guess the rest of the league thought the same. Makes me wonder why didn't Burke get him then.
Either way, Brunnstrom didn't do much in the AHL either, .5 ppg I think. Definitely needed a change of scenery, and I'm sure he's happy to go to the other place that was atop his list when he first came over here.
Don't know anything about Stefanovich, we'll see what he does in the minors I guess. Dallas is low on RW's (Langenbrunner, Barch, recently-waived Burish, and that's about it), so maybe he'll get a call-up or two.
Fair deal for now.
If you're telekinetic and you know it, clap my hands!
Brunnstrom essentially cost nothing for TOR to pickup. Stefanovich was a throw in so TOR could free up inventory space within the 50-contract limit. He's currently playing in the KHL and won't cost DAL a cent.
