That doesn't sound good to me.

I took it to mean "Ovechkin and Backstrom should have been at practice". But it could mean anything.

I get that, they probably need the practice right now more than anyone, but the whole team is starting slow not just the top line. It seems to be a deeper issue than just Nick and Ovie.

i think he meant exactly what he said. "preparation...We're not as players doing what we need to do to get ready for the start of the game."

not doing what we needto do to get ready=preparation. he's talking about the players. not the coaching

Tonight's game is being built up as a marquee matchup. Watched a good bit of Vancouver's game last night and wasn't all that impressed. Maybe they're a little tired or due for some mediocre play after the long streak. The Caps of course looked awful in their last game as well.

I'm hoping this one isn't a 1-0 yawnfest. Wouldn't mind seeing a good old fashioned high scoring game for a change. But with (I'm assuming) Luongo and Varly in net who knows.

It's gotta suck to be a vet grinder who has to sit there and get yelled at by your coach when you lose games because your young stars aren't doing their job in situations you can't control.

No power plays, and no 3-on-5s.

That should be our game plan.

Also, we always kind of suck at 4-on-4s, so let's avoid those too.

Canucks fan here. Hopefully it will be a good game tonight. The Canucks haven't really been playing very good hockey lately. The goaltending has been good, defense has been alright, offense hasnt really been clicking for about 5 games though. It was decent in the Oilers game... but that doesn't really count. Kind of expecting a loss, to make it two in a row, hopefully that gets the team motivated again. Good luck!

playing devil's advocate: so the coaching staff has nothing to do with the players getting "prepared" for the game? what exactly does the coach do then?

Here's a stat for you: The Caps have been shutout 7 times this year in 44 games. They were shutout once last year in 82.

Grinders gotta nut up sometimes and pot a timely goal. Bradley is good for that.

It's been a particularly long stretch of about 25 games now. Lots of road trips and we hadn't lost a game since December 3rd so everyone was tired after being able to some how keep grinding out wins for a month and a half.

I guess we will see what type a team we have after 2 losses on the road and Vancouver playing back to back games and losing to NY. Should be interesting, but we already have an excuse with Semin out, if that is an excuse?

George Costanza: The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send soup back in a deli. I got about fifty feet out and suddenly the great beast appeared before me. I tell you he was ten stories high if he was a foot. As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "Easy Big Fella!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that something was obstructing its breathing. From where I was standing, I could see directly into the eye of the great fish.

Jerry: Mammal.

George Costanza: Whatever.

Capitals bring their titleist to the game tonight.

Nice.

Found your grandkids Seinfeld DVDs. Did they put them in the fancy record player for you?
