New Coach

Who do you want to be our new coach? It should be a given TMac is gone especially after losing 6 straight including at home to both toronto and edmonton...

When Pittsburgh switched coaches in 09 it worked great and they even went on to win the cup.

I pick Mike Keenan. Maybe he can light a fire under everyones ass.

How about anyone not on the current staff?

That would be dandy.

Ah, locker room meetings would be awesome. Instead of a drawing board, it will all be photoshops.

The correct question is who is available? We can't exactly swipe a promising assistant coach mid season, our AHL coach isn't going to cut it as the NHL level IMO. The only reason i would want scorched earth keenen is because i'm hoping he will make life hell for our overpaid first line and they'll all waive their NTC.

For this season, in the interim, Ken Hitchcock. At least the team would be sound defensively, since you would fire TMac and Yawney. Hitch can coach the Dmen too.

Kevin Constantine. He's said a couple times that he wants to coach the Sharks again.

Gut says McLellan lasts the year regardless how far the Sharks fall, giving time for D.Wilson to carefully select his predecessor. IF, and this is a big IF, Wilson decides a mid season coaching change is the best route to take, a couple of interim possibilities come to mind.

1) Pat Quinn-has a burning desire to get back into coaching and for all the negativity around Quinn at times, he has always been known as a great motivator.

2)Kelly Hrudey-Former Shark, current broadcaster will have now seen the game from all angles and could relate to the struggles the team is going through. Would be a drastic move, but would be the fan's choice.

3)Ted Nolan-A hard ass who would be nothing more then a fill in for the rest of the campaign. A big gamble but might light the fire under some underachieving players.

4)Craig MacTavish-Also has a desire to get back into coaching. If the Sharks are after a players coach, he's their man.

5) Darryl Sutter- Never say never???

I've always wanted a coach like Keenan to come here and coach. We always seem to need that type of coach. I think the closest we got to Keenan is Ron Wilson. I hope something happens because this is bulls**t. How can we be playing this crappy when we're supposed to be so good? I thought it was Pavs being hurt but I'm beginning to think it's more.

That's a terrible list, and I don't know where you get to say anything is "the fans' choice" when you're not a fan. You also used "predecessor" wrong.

Good god no. Keenan leaves scorched earth in his wake. The kind whre it takes years just to get back to respectability. And he really doesn't have a great track record outside of that one year in NYR or his early Chicago years.

But of course Havi would be an offseason move in all seriousness. And in all seriousness, in the offseason now, his stock is even higher than before.

I'm counting my lucky stars that I don't have season tickets anymore, with this team.

how about tippett? He knows the pacific as well as anyone, and phx is such a shaky situation along with the fact that they are a cheap team that will never spend to win a cup. does anyone know his contract length and stuff?

I actually wouldn't mind having Haviland as the next coach. I watched him in Norfolk a lot and he is a tough coach. He made it hard and tough on everybody and was always yelling at one of his players or a ref, but the player's played for him and if they didn't they didn't play.

I think with this team we'd need a different style of coach - some like Sutter, Kennan or maybe Constintene. We need a no bull **** kind of coach that will make them work hard, **** with their heads a little bit. A coach that will *motivate/inspire* players and a team to play at their best instead of the self motivation ****.

Given TMac's history, DW will give him more time. We first need a new D-man to see if that helps. If TMac still can't get it done after that, then his job will be in jeopardy.
