Too many forwards?

When Callahan returns, I imagine Weiss gets demoted. Who sits when EC returns??? What happens if/when Prospal returns? I can't figure out what our line-up will look like if we're ever 100% healthy.

LW C RW
Wolski Stepan Gaborik
Dubinsky AA Callahan
Prospal Drury MZA
Feds/Avery Boyle Prust

Maybe group up Prospal-EC-Gaborik again? That was an effective line last year.

With MZA+EC in the line-up, we have some serious skill if it comes to a shootout. I'd like to see MZA-EC-Gabby at some point this year too if possible.

Curious to hear some of your ideas~

Weise goes back to Hartford. Doubt we see Prospal back and if he is hes probably gonna be a scratch in back to back games as his knee is weak. Christensen is the likely scratch if he doesnt put up points.

Prospal I would say is likely not coming back. Christensen or Drury sits when EC is healthy, and honestly, unless EC centers Gabby and Wolski and helps them put together some offense, Drury brings more so Christensen will likely be a scratch.

This question comes up all the time. Chances are we carry 13 forwards, and there are always injuries. Who knows maybe Avery get knocked down, maybe MZA loses his game and gets sent down. Maybe someone else gets hurt. A lot of things can happen. I dont see Prospal coming back. I see then lines like this.

Wolski-Step-Gabby
Dubi-AA-MZA/Cally
Avery-Drury-Cally/MZA
Feds-Boyle-Prust
EC

This will have EC filling in for anyone else. I think MZA and dubi have looked good together so maybe cally plays with Drury and Avery and gets one or both of them going. We'll see what happens, but we dont get cally back til after the all star break anyways.

The more I look at our potentially healthy line-up, the less attractive Drury+Avery look. Prospal can make a huge impact for us in a month or two. EC's our most capable center with Gaborik. I wouldn't neglect either player.

Don't think Prospal will be back.

Here's what i think we'll roll with:

Wolski-Stepan-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-MZA
Avery-Drury-Callahan
Fedetenko-Boyle-Prust
EC

Injured: Prospal, Boogaard

The way I see it we have 6 top 6 forwards, and 6 more that could play on the third line. Between those six I think Boyle needs a spot on the third as does Callahan. I could see something like:

Wolski-Stepan-Gaborik
Dubi-AA-MZA
____-Boyle-Callahan
____-Drury-_____

____ could be either Feds/Avery/Prust depending on what's working

Wolski Stepan Gabs
Dubi Artie Cally
Feds Boyle Prust
Avery Drury MZA

thats how i see it as of now. we all know torts juggles his lines though. we need a goal ya see more of MZA, if we are ahead then u see him less.

MZA wont be effective playing on the 4th line, needs to get top 2 lines time.

Yea, I think this pretty much sums it up. I think MZA and Cally will be used interchangably depending on who we're playing and how each of them are playing at that time.

I don't consider Prospal ever coming back and if we need Boogs then he will probably rotate in and out with Avery or Drury.

Don't worry, the way this season is going we'll have 2 injuries when someone comes back and we'll be worrying about who takes their place -- not who's going to sit.

Prospal probably ain't coming back.

When Callahan comes back, you might see MZA get sent back. Personally, I'd like to see Stepan get sent down so the kid actually starts creating some plays instead of taking shots everytime he gets the puck. He's supposed to be a puck distributor, but he's not doing much distribution.

This is what it'll probably be.

Wolski-Anisimov-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Stepan-MZA
Avery-Drury-Callahan
Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust
EC

I got a feeling Wolski gets traded before or at the deadline.

I'm doubting we see Vinny back this year.

Weise will go back down when the need arises.

Next in line for "healthy scratch" status would be Christensen and Avery.

I highly doubt that would happen. I think Sather acquired him because he loves those porjects, but I could be wrong.

I really doubt it. All the talk from the team after acquiring him was how they loved his talent, knew he struggled, but want to work with him. I don't think we brought him in expecting him to immediately be a huge contributor. Unless he is flat out awful, not sure why the team would abandon those plans in a month and a half.

Plus, who would give us anything of value for him? He's already developed a reputation as a bit of a problem, and if the "Master of Reclamation" gives up on you in a month, what does that say for him? Kid is here for the rest of the season, at absolute minimum.

I don't think it's impossible, actually. Unlikely, but not impossible. The thought crossed my mind when the deal was announced. Especially if he doesn't develop much chemistry over the next few weeks.

Goodbye Weise when Callahan comes back. EC would be 13th forward when he's good to go. I dont see MZA getting sent down. The only person I see sitting instead of EC is Avery.

Off course that's in a perfect world. In a Rangers world another forward will suffer long term injury as soon as Cally comes back. It's been that kind of season for us.

Doubt Prospal plays this season.

The bolded is the biggest reason why I think he'll go. The other part of me think that he'll be dealt in a package for Richards or somewhere else to make room for Richards during the season.

I'm not very optimistic about Wolski. But if he does do well here, good.
