We're better off that he is gone anyway, he doesn't do much at the NHL level and while he would help the Soundtigers he has always had the reputation of being a bad guy in the room.
I sorta understand I guess. I mean, the guy gets bumped back and forth like 100 times during the season. Sure, it's a business and that's just what happens, but after awhile I'm sure he got sick of it.
On one hand I feel bad for the guy but on the other he plays pro hockey, I'd give my left nut to go through what he did this season.
Exactly I hate when pro athletes pull this crap, you are being paid to PLAY HOCKEY for a living. Sim is garbage let him go be a star in the German leagues or the KHL.
Good riddance! Hopefully Wishart comes up, I'd like a good look at him, Reese is on waivers as well today.
As much as I don't want Sim on this team you have to admit the guy hustled and went to the greasy areas that most other Isles wouldn't dare venture.
If he would only stop his overembellishments, and lazy penalties when he's caught on a long shift then may be I'll accept all of his goalie interference calls.
Snow must have told him he was going to stay in Bridgeport for the rest of the season for Sim to not report.
On the bright side. This will now free up Sweet 16 for our next #1 draft pick (assuming it's a forward).

It's not like they're sending him across the country though. I mean he could still commute from his house. Drive to Port Jeff, jump on a ferry and you're there.
Mmmmm. Sim doesn't bring much to the Islanders. I would rather use the spot to play some of the kids from the Port when a body is needed on the 4th line.
But with the injuries, we are short warm bodies to insert. B'Port is also short now that we have Joensuu, Colliton, Rakhshani are with the Isles, and Rakh is injured, Nielsen, Hunter, KO are not available for play.
Garth better sign some bodies for the Port, hopefully someone who can also be called up to fill in minutes on the 4th line.
Not a loss for the Islanders and not a loss for Sim at this point. . He can sign an AHL deal for the rest of the season and have a stable life instead of constant worry about waivers and having to re locate.

He shouldn't have signed a 2 way contract then. He knew what he was getting into, so he should stop being a little ***** about it.

What did he think could happen when he signed a TWO-WAY contract?
not sure why Sim would do this - this cannot help him if he ever plans on playing in the NHL again.
The smarter thing to do is to report, continue scoring at the pace he was, maybe be picked up as a depth player on another team as injuries arise or possibly next year.

Oh well.
Sim was never claimed the dozen times he was waived and recalled.
He signed a 2 way deal this past off season.
He knows no other NHL team has interest in him.
I guess more money is to be made in Europe than in the 50/50 split between NHL and AHL.
Remember, the Isles offered Park a 2 way deal but he declined and went to Europe instead. May be Dick put in a good word for him.
