Because there's a killer whale in the logo?

He is a Canadian symbol...nothing to do with the City of Vancouver. He's more of an Ontario/Quebec/Maritime thing.
You know the province extends beyond Vancouver, right?

So...he's the reason we have so much rain?

He's not the worst thing, if you care about superhero characters at all. My kids loved it. But, and here's my inner geek on display, he is like any water-based hero in that he is pretty useless on land, where most of the, you know, crime happens. He can summon his whale friends all he wants to stop a bank robbery, but that would be pretty cruel. And gross for everyone.
Of course, for some reason this guy can also bound through trees like Tarzan, so I guess that's cool. You think he's contained to the ocean, so you hide out in the forest, thinking you're safe (like most master criminals do), when all of a sudden you hear a terrifying shriek from the tree tops above as you are attacked by a club made of rain water and empathy.
Basically, if you stay away from the ocean and the forests, this guy is not going to bother you.

Yes. When you get an NHL team in Castlegar, or Trail, or Nelson, or Hot Scrotum British Columbia or whatever other town you come from, then you can use a tuque wearing lumberjack.

Anybody who comes to Vancouver will only see lumberjacks at that stupid show they have on Grouse Mountain.

So unless you think BC only consists of Vancouver you can kindly take your toque wearing lumberjack hate elsewhere, thanks. The only difference between a lumberjack and a logger is the time period and the tools used, with the lumberjack being before 1945 or so. And I'm pretty sure they were logging the forests of BC before 1945. Also, my daddy was a lumberjack so screw you

Just kind of irks me that each Guardian has clear elements of existing Marvel characters and some are DC rip offs too.
The Oiler is very similar of The Juggernaut, the Lightning = The Silver Surfer, and The Shark... well...

I was expecting we were gonna be shafted.

But a Batman lookalike that controls rain is awesome.

Like any Vancouverite, The Canuck should have some sort of superpower related to condo developments.

ORCAS TO THE RESCUE

(there's a comic for every team here if you're feeling particularly masochistic)
