2010-11 Philadelphia Flyers Game-by-Game Statssheet and Milestone Watchlist

Another year, another time I'm doing this. For those new to the boards, first of all welcome, and second of all an explanation of these two things.

The statsheet will be updated after every game and shows the most important statistics (Goals, Assists, points, plus/minus and penalty minutes, GA, GAA, SV%) of each player for those respective games, with monthly and season totals. The purpose of it is to see streaks and trends as the players progress through the season. It also a has a projection feature, showing what kind of results we can expect at the end of the season, if he progresses at the pace he's currently on for the season.

The second is a milestone watchlist, which has a countdown to the number of events that must happen for a player to reach a career milestone. However, whenever someone reaches a milestone, I will probably make a post in here for notification.

Both of these documents are realized in Google docs, mainly for accessibility and automation.

Here are the links:
Game-by-game Statssheet
Milestone Watchlist

And now to some changes from last year. I have decided not to make a similar statssheet for the Adirondack Phantoms minor league affiliate this year. It is simply too much work for too little benefit in my opinion. However, I will try to keep an eye on the developments there and perhaps make some update posts either here or in the Prospects/Phantoms thread.

On the other hand, I've added a career tracking feature, showing the career totals of each player before the season started and the current career totals after adding the totals from the season. This should also help spotting milestones reached.

Let's hope for another great, entertaining and successful season.

Two things happened tonight, both centuries.

Carcillo played in his 100th game as a Flyer.

Zherdev scored his 100th NHL goal.

Congrats to both.

From what I can find, these are the top SHG scorers in team history (regular season only):

Updated through the 2010-11 regular season.

  • Barber 31
  • Poulin 27
  • Howe 24
  • Richards 23
  • MacLeish 21
  • Propp 20
  • Brind'Amour 18

Sean O'Donnell played in his 1100th NHL game against Columbus, and Hartnell scored his 200th assist tonight. Congrats to both.

So the month of October is effectively over. 6-4-1 with 34-27 in goals is respectable, especially with the hanger they had in the middle of it. Pointgetter of the month is Giroux with 10 who also lead the team in goals with 6, alongside Briere. Leino, Richards and Carter all had 9. Plus/Minus leaders are Pronger and Betts, both with +5. The rest is around even. Could be better there. Especially Richards, who is bizarrely enough a -2 :X

Penalty leader is Hartnell with 43, mostly due to his 21 PIM performance in St. Louis. Carcillo's 22 PIM performance last night gave him 888 on his career. He's gonna break 1k this season.

Looks like the team finally found its offensive form. 21 goals in the last 5 games. The only exception was that stinker in Columbus. Then again, they played some of the weaker teams as of recent. Hope they can keep it up and build on the current success.

Two-fer for Richie tonight.
a) He scored his 300th NHL point
b) He scored his 22nd shorthanded goal, which puts him to 5th on the all-time Flyer list.

Congrats to him

A bunch of things:
Carter played his 400th game on the 16th
Pronger played his 100th with the Flyers on the 18th
Hartnell his 700th on the 20th
And Meszaros his 400th tonight, the 2nd.

Additionally, after changing some goals in the Tampa game, the NHL has now 100 points for Coburn.

To take away something positive:

Tonight, Claude Giroux scored his 100th and Jeff Carter scored his 300th Career point. On the same play, no less.

Boucher's 61st regular season win as a Flyer... moves him past Esche into 12th on the all-time team list. Next up, Nitty and Roussel at 62 and Biron at 65. To move into 8th he will need to get past Doug Favell's 76 wins. Note that he is already 3rd on the Flyers all-time list for play-off wins with 17.

Boosh is one win away from passing Biron for 9th on the Flyers all-time regular season list now. Also, he sits 9th in games played by goalies, if he gets another 13 games in this season he will be in 5th! Only behind Hextall, Parent, Favell and Peeters. He needs 27 games to catch Peeters. Go Boosh go!

Is that appearances or starts?

I believe it is appearances, in the games played category they don't differentiate in the stats between starts or relief appearances.

Not recently, except Danny Boy played his 700th game against Anaheim. One more goal and Carter ties 15th place in most career goals as a Flyer. Richards is currently 24th in that department. Both are steadily climbing the record books for the Flyers.

Someone asked about goals by defensemen in one of the GDTs. This looks like a complete list (through and including February 13, 2011):

Carle

Coburn
  • 02-18-11 A Carolina
  • 11-18-10 H Tampa Bay

Meszaros
  • 02-24-11 H NY Islanders
  • 02-05-11 H Dallas
  • 01-20-11 H Ottawa
  • 01-18-11 H Washington
  • 11-18-10 H Tampa Bay

O'Donnell
  • 01-13-11 at Boston

Pronger
  • 12-09-10 at Toronto
  • 11-04-10 H NY Rangers
  • 10-30-10 H NY Islanders
  • 10-30-10 H NY Islanders

Timonen
  • 01-25-11 H Montreal
  • 01-14-11 at Atlanta
  • 10-30-10 H NY Islanders

By month:
  • October: Timonen, Pronger, Pronger
  • November: Pronger, Coburn, Meszaros

Richards needs 2 assists to get to 200. He is 22nd on the Flyers all-time list.

Timonen needs 2 points to get to 150 as Flyer.

Briere needs 8 goals to get to 100 as a Flyer and 2 assists to get to 100 as a Flyer (i.e. 10 points to get to 200 as a Flyer).

Coburn needs 1 point to get to 100 as a Flyer.

Josef Beranek needs 4 goals to get to 50 as a Flyer (I don't think he's gonna make it).

Scott Hartnell needs 1 goal to pass Scott Mellanby for 36th on the Flyers all time list with 84. Next up are Sittler with 84, Primeau with 87, Dineen with 88 and Zezel with 91.

Jody Shelley needs 98 goals to get to 100 as a Flyer. One more goal will tie him with Adam Oates on the Flyers all-time list!

Jeff Carter needs 5 PP goals to get to 50. He also has 36 GWG, which puts him 1 behind Lindros, 2 behind Clarke and 3 behind Recchi on the Flyers all-time list. He is 11th on the Flyers GWG list.
