I think BB has lost them. The assistant coaches, too. Maybe even Ted and McPhee have lost cred in the eyes of the players. IMO, there would be justice in it. The organization is spending money but they just don't have the right management for building a championship team.

I wonder if the Caps' "surge" around the Winter Classic was just personal pride on the part of the players.

The WC game really didn't show me much. Was like pseudo hockey.

The locker room is the players personal space and should be led by the captain and senior players. Those leaders keep the rest of the team motivated and should be depended on to keep moral up. The Caps seem to be lacking in this department based on their inability to start games on positive footing.

BB's job is to get the players prepared to play and to make in-game decisions as needed, but it is the players responsibility to be ready to play on a physical and emotional level night and night out. HC speeches like the Al Pacino "We fight for that inch" crap is only suited for the playoffs.
Because this team just looks so prepared right now under the coach's leadership. What's the point of having him around if everything is just up to the players?

So I guess the teams excellent play on the PK this year is an accident.

It is kind of staggering just how far this team has fallen from an entertainment standpoint. This is a tough team to watch, for new fans and long-time fans of the game alike.

Something major will happen if the Caps lose today. This team is in deep trouble.

Your right, my bad. GMGM should of never fired Hanlon because it is obvious BB's has had nothing to do with the Caps success over the last 3 or so years.

first off, thats ridiculous. really
second off, unless you can reasonable suggest that changing the coach is going to get ovechkin and backstrom to putting the puck in the net, there's no point.
