Thrashers@Panthers "Buff In Town"

Well the Thrash have returned.. this is beginning to sound like a Hockey Rash or something.. anyways, they will look to extend the 3 game win streak tonight vs the Atlanta Thrashers. they look to make it a season high 4 game winning streak. Lets Go Panthers! Down The Thrashers! Who Will Score first? who will fight? what crap calls will be made?? Lets Wait and see !

THRASHERS (22-18-7) at PANTHERS (21-20-2)
TV: SPSO, Fox Sports-Florida.
Last 10: Atlanta 3-5-2; Florida 5-3-2.
Season Series: This is the fourth of six meetings between the Southeast Division rivals. Atlanta has beaten Florida twice, including a 3-2 victory at Florida on Jan. 5. Rich Peverley scored twice for the Thrashers in the win.

Panthers: Atlanta's struggles has opened the door for Florida, which is now just seven points behind the Thrashers for eighth and final playoff spot in the East. The Panthers will be seeking their third straight win after beating the New Jersey Devils in overtime on Saturday night at the BankAtlantic Center. Two of their goals came via the power play.

Looking over the schedule, this is the best season in terms of a schedule I've ever seen... We still have another 6 and 7 game home stand... pretty nuts

Ha, so true. If this team could ever put together more than three wins they might be able to make some progress in the standings.

I predict a 1,013-2 loss for Florida. Refs will call Panthers for too many men on the ice when the starting lineup tries to come out, preventing them from playing and seriously overcrowding the penalty box. Yet Atlanta's woes still cause them to give up two goals to the phantoms that exist in their minds.

For those unversed, that's one of my infamous disaster predictions - in brief.

Yeah we've had some pretty disastrous home games against Atlanta this season. And we've won 3 straight. Huge game. Not expecting much though...

Why?

I'm not a Vokoun hater by any stretch, but the team has won two in a row in front of Clemmenson. It's probably no accident, since this team has always seemed to play better in front of the backup netminder going back as far as Luongo/Hurme.

Yes, Vokoun is unhappy, but I'd really like to see what an angry Vokoun is capable of. I would imagine that this should sharpen his focus a bit. Unless he is traded, I still see Vokoun starting the majority of the games from here on out.

Good, Clemmer deserves to start this game. Other than allowing one weird goal per game he has been solid.

Still couple less per game than Vokoun lately.

Please guys CLEAR THE CREASE AREA. Don't let them take 10 wacks at the puck

Very pumped to go to a game with some meaning. Dont like the clemmer deal, but if saturdays team shows up we win with either goalie.

Haha it's been a while since I've seen one of these!!

I'm interested to see how Clemmer responds to the ice-time. It's his first time starting 3 straight in a while. Let's see if he can help this team string some wins together instead of it just being a little mini-hot streak.

This is the definition of the type of game that this team always seems to find a way to lose.

Can the troops rally minus their captain? The dreaded 4th game of the string=fail. Can't come out "tired" tonight. Full speed, 60 minutes. Go Cats!

Because an average game by our goalie shouldn't be enough to win this game.

And Clemmensen can't be better than average.

Vokoun has had few rough nights lately, but we all know how good he can be. And tonight would have been a good time for him to bounce back.

I just hope that Atlanta comes out flat tonight, so we might manage to win this game. But I'm not expecting Clemmensen to steal this game though

I just fear this game could be a big slap in the face for us, losing something like 5 or 6 -1 after a 3 games winning streak.

Did you catch the game at Phoenix this year?
The OT loss against Boston?

Your comment basically suggest that he shouldn't even be in the NHL...considering there's no way in hell he can be better than average.

Bottom line is, Clemmensen's been meeting DeBoer's netminding requirements recently, and Vokoun has not.

Surprisingly enough, looking at Vokoun's gamelogs, it seems like he's been average since late November...and that includes 3 shutouts. Meaning that if you take away 3 games since late November, he's actually been pretty bad.
