Bolland has been playing well for a while (he has something like 18 points in his last 20 games or something), it is not just last night. The last 20 games he has looked like the guy from the past 2 playoffs. He started of the year very slow (understatement), but it seems like that was due to injuries. Over the last 20 games he looks healthy and is playing the way he can.

The Hawks don't need to choose between Seabrook and Bolland. That doesn't mean they will never trade one of them, but they don't have to.

Original proposal is awful. Bozak is a fourth line center only playing higher because, well, it's Toronto. Gunnarsson can't even hang in the lineup consistently.

I realize its been a while since a Toronto fan saw what a contending team looks like first hand, so I forgive them for not understanding you don't downgrade core players for stiffs.

Bolland outscores Bozak from the third line vs first line, in less games, while being better defensively, tougher, same age, and proven playoff success (and most importantly isn't a Justin Bieber fan). In what world does that get offset with a #7 defenseman?

Shove your garbage on someone else, Leafs fans. We got screwed by you once already this season (as some of us predicted when it happened).

That's going a bit too far though...

Wow, out from the woodwork after you win a stanley cup after a longer drought than Toronto. Thanks for showing up though.

And 2002 wasn't that long ago. I mean, Chicago fans can wait just as long as Leaf fans.

Cap problems? The reason why they got rid of Versteeg, Byfuglien? No. You are definitely right.

That was last season. There are no cap problems anymore.

$600,000 is a lot of space to work with.

I get that they are under the cap, but you have to account for injuries and players winning trophies towards your cap as well.

Having 2 goalies around 1.5 million works, sure.

Kopecky plays for no less than 2.5 mill. next season, so if you don't want to pay that, then you let him walk and find another guy to fill the roll. Personally, I don't see Beach being ready for the show next year.

I also don't think its that easy to just assume that you can find guys that will play for the league minimum each year. Skille's going to ask for a raise. Brouwer will get a bit more and if you want Stalberg he might make just over or around a mill.

Guys like Pisani, Dowell, and Johnson are all unlikely to make anything over 650k per.

I've been posting on this site a lot longer than that. Try using some powers of observation. Ie, l2r, fw.

I'm sorry, are we discussing last offseason? No? It was this offseason, wasn't it?

Yeah, I am definitely right. And you are definitely wrong. Probably not a feeling you are unused to.

Unless you expect Seabrook to play for 1 million and the rest of the signees to play for the same, they will be in the same situation as this year.
I don't know what data you're using to declare the Hawks will have cap issues next year unless they trade Bolland or Seabrook - but your data is incorrect.

The simplest way to explain this is to assume the roster stays basically the same as this season. The players that needs to be resigned are Seabrook, Brouwer, Crawford and possibly Kopecky if he agrees to play for basically the same amount. Seabrook will get a $1.5M - $2M raise, and Brouwer and Crawford will each get about $1M raise. That is $3.5M to $4M more than the salary this season - which will be covered by the $4M cap space the Hawks will get back because they won't have to pay all those ELC bonuses that they're paying this season.

So the Hawks will not have cap issues even if the league salary cap doesn't increase. I the salary cap goes up as expected, the Hawks will have that increase to spend.

Nope, his defense has always been there. I made a few proposals involving Bolland on this forum to see what kind of other center he could fetch if he was included in a deal. His real value comes playoff time. He shut down Nashville's top line, the Sedins, and Thorton's line in the playoffs and also played well for us in the Stanley Cup. His penalty killing also is very clutch to the Blackhawks. Bolland wasn't clicking on offense and over the last few weeks, the man has picked it up and is finally healthy and looking like the Dave we all know in Chicago.

Oh I get it - you're Kopecky's agent. That explains your viewpoint. Clear out salary so your guy can get more than he's worth.

Kopecky is likely due for a small raise. Any team that offers him over 2 per will regret it though.
