I guess the search function isn't working so I couldn't find the beer thread if that even exists anymore. Anyone try Sam Adams Noble Pils? I had it a month or so ago and thought it was the best tasting Bud Light I'd ever had until somebody told me it was Sam Adams. I like a lot of Sam Adams' beers and that was another tasty treat!
Speaking of beer, I'm enjoying a honey blonde from this brewery in town. It's not bad. But it seems for me, the darker the beer gets, the more I don't like it.
Took my cat to the vet today. I won't see him till tomorrow evening. When I was filling out the paperwork, the most depressing question came up. It basically asked if anything goes wrong in the surgery do you want the veterinarians to continue working or just let the animal go.
Hey Shellz
I thought about you and your cat today and hope that everything turned out alright. One of the worst things that can happen to someone (in my opinion it can be anyways) is to have a vet walk out of an operating room to tell you that your pet didn't make it.
So let us know how things turn out, remember were all crazy animal people so everyone is concerned.
I don't drink beer any longer and in fact I don't drink too often anyways but I do make chokeberry wine every year and it is really exceptional. I can say that because I am following someone elses recipe to the letter and its perfect everytime.
I have made orange wine that turned out great once before and even a cherry grape pom wine that turned out really great.
I mean great as in it tastes really great by the way, I don't know jack all about real wine, just what I like.
I made a light honey beer once that tasted like an Asahi Dry with honey in it.
For me the best beer I ever drank was an ice cold Asahi Dry on a hot day. It is an exceptional beer but since it has been years that I have had one I may be romanticizing it a bit.

Ah yes, I should have said something earlier. Yeah, he's all good. He's ready to go back outside...but not for another 4 days. The whole time he was at the vet I was thinking of the worst possible outcome. It's such a horrible feeling he might not make it. Before I took him, I told myself he's going to be fine, no big deal. Once I saw that last question, my heart dropped. Of course I checked yes.
I really appreciate you and LBFF asking about him. It really does mean a lot. Thank you.

No worries and hooray! for a healthy cat.
I had the opposite experience with my absolute best friend in the world a few years ago and still struggle with it at times. I have had so many animals/friends but of course the one that became my best friend is the one that had to go too soon.
She had a towns worth of people who all came around after they had heard she didn't make it. People I didn't even know would walk up to me and say "hey I am really sorry about your loss" and tell me how they would hang out in my front yard with her. I never even knew.
That's the cost for letting anyone human or animal into your life and to me its a small price to pay.
So again hooray and way cool for you. In my experience with cats, the tougher they are the cooler they are and the longer they live.

=( so sorry to hear about that, TG. that's awful. i lost a pretty good buddy as a little kid, too, and it totally sucked.
and shellz, i am also glad to hear your buddy made it through! give that cat a high five, courtesy my cat.

I can't believe your so prejudiced against dark beers! Its not prejudice you say? Try replacing the word "beer" in your post with the word "women."
Too far? JK
Actually, the darker the beer gets, the more flavor it generally has. While at the Yardhouse before the RedThing debacle Monday, our server suggested a really good darker beer: The Reverend, by Avery breweries. This darker beer was so smooth and tasty, I went out the next day a picked up a few bottles. If you like dark tasty beers, (its somewhat similar toa Chimay) this one could make you get religion...
(from the Avery brewing Web site)
Beer Style: Belgian Quadrupel Ale
Hop Variety: Styrian Goldings
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, cara 8, cara 20, caramel 15L, caramel 40L, Belgian special B
OG: 1.093 ABV: 10.0% IBUs: 10
Color: Tawny
The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for up to 4 years.

Excellent news: the Brasserie which is a restaurant at the Sheraton at Macy's Plaza in Downtown LA has the Pasta Bar back for their lunch buffet. They got rid of it 6 months ago or so and I stopped going there. A co-worker saw the sign that it was "back by popular demand" so I went today.
If you are ever in downtown LA in the afternoon and craving some pasta, check this place out. Macy's Plaza is between 7th and 8th and Flower and Hope. there is a Sheraton hotel connected to it and the restaurant is on the bottom floor connected to both the hotel and the mall there. It is all you can eat for $14 and includes all the other food from the buffet too but the pasta bar is killer. Check out the Yelp reviews of it.
I have been in my hotel room watching the Kings game on my little apple and just now went outside. From the start to the end of the game my car has been covered in snow. My car is a Honda Element which has a pretty tall profile. Covered up to the gunnels.
To top that I am in the middle of nowhere almost literally. Oh well, nothing a shovel won't fix.
