It took a full 6 seconds for a teammate to congratulate Subban.

Never seen it take longer than 3. Maybe 4 if a guy trips or something, but definitely not 6 seconds. He must have banged all their wives/girlfriends.

Then to top it all off, Lars Eller comes up and just starts rubbing his hand in PK's face? Presumably some Danish shame ritual.

At least it was our backup vs. their starter that were pulled.

Is it me or does Gomez seem pissed at :36? The way he just skates away and Subban turns around like he knows he ****ed up. I'm probably just reading too much into it though...

I could see the guys being slightly pissed about the celebration being overly joyous in the context of a near full-on meltdown tonight on the scoreboard. Otherwise, I don't know.

I don't think there was anything wrong with that celebration. If he did it, or anything for that matter, in an opponents face (ala that LOSER Cole to Doug Gilmour many playoffs ago), then I have a problem. You don't shove it in your opponents face....it's poor sportsmanship. But this? What's the issue? He celebrated to himself, his teammates and the fans, so what?

Jesus, the press is really blowing this thing up with his celebration. Granted, maybe given the way the game turned out but still let the guy enjoy his game winning goal !

There shouldn't be any issue from the perspective of the other team. It's an OT celebration. Danny Briere does that one-knee uppercut celebration after every goal, even if the score's 7-1. This was just like a prolonged version of that, really.

As far as our team looking moody, I'd imagine that once it became 4-4, no matter what happened after that our guys were going into the room in a foul mood afterwards.

The press isn't really saying anything about the celebration itself, it's the fact that Subban apologized for his celebration and the way his teammates' reacted to it that's getting the media's attention.

Yeah....really seems like a lot of focus on this for nothing. The focus should be on how nice that goal was...and/or how disappointing that meltdown was, although, I believe Auld started that snowball rolling downhill.

Really guys? We're really analyzing how Gomez (and thus by extension, "the team veterans") feel about Subban based on 0.5 seconds of a youtube clip in which you can barely make out the expression on Gomez's face?

You're right

My family and friends always tell me that I over-analyze things way to much but sometimes I just can't help it. I'm kinda glad that a few people agreed with me though... At least I know I'm not seeing things.

Totally agree.

The NHL needs more charisma like this, and less predictable vanilla.

I think that they just wanted to let him do his thing first. Plus, the rest of the team were probably still smarting over the Flames comeback.

Point taken, still feels cheap that they had to mention it in an article. Just a way they write about things sometimes...

Gomez might have been mad then, but he should be over it now.

heh, while i get what you mean

but that footage actually shows, pk clearly going towards gomez as if to say something, and gomez RIGHT away skates off, and the second that follows shows subban had obviously tried to tell him something......and i like gomez, but its not like he doesnt know who just scored the game winner...if gionta had scored it, gomez would be trying to french kiss him...do not doubt the .5 seconds pyretta just brought up, it clearly shows something i dont like.

i almost wish you hadnt brought it up PB !

I don't know what Gomez is thinking there.

If he's thinking that Subban's celebration was inappropriate, then that's rich coming from Scott "Mr. Glib" Gomez.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gomez's sense of humour, but he's one of the last people on the Habs team that should be acting like Subban's celebration went too far.

You can have 10 Subbans for 1 Gomez if you go by base salary. Gomez can rightly s-t-f-u.
