Byfuglien's next contract
What do you think it will be? Do you think he will sign with Atlanta again or head to free agency? Length? $$$$? IMO I would think around 4m-5m? 3-5 years? This is the first year he broke out so hes not really proven yet so I wouldnt throw Chara money at him yet...
THoughts?

Lets say he ends up with ~60points this year. Given he's an RFA and excelling in Atlanta, I think he'd want to stay there long term. I'd say 6 years, $30 million.

I could see Buff falling off next year. He's had tons issues with consistency his entire career so far. I'd sign him to a 3 year, 12 million deal at most.

His next contract will overpay him but heck, he's been so good for Atlanta this season, if he wants $5-6 million/year, they'll give it to him.

I'm happy for Buf, but anything over $4M/year is too much.

$6 over 6.
I'd expect that the Norris favorite isn't going to sign for anything short of superstar money.

If Byfuglien is the Norris favorite... Ouch. If they're giving Buff 6M, what should Enstrom ask for? 7.5?

I thought this thread was about Buf?
He's not even the best defenseman in his pairing.

Pretty much expecting something like this. I'm wondering if Enstrom's current contract will have any affect on Buff's.

He'll get $5M plus, but I think a smart contract would give him $4-$4.5M

I said a couple weeks ago that Buff would have to prove it two years in a row before he's worth big money. Now it remains to be seen if he can just keep proving it this season. I believe he's five games in a row now without a point.

crazzzzy people ITT.
Nothing short of 5M, and even that is prob on the low side. He's in the running for the Norris and some cats think he'll sign for ~4M?? really??

If he wins or is a finalist for the Norris, it's going to be upwards of $5.5m, possibly upwards of $6m.... I'm not sure he's worth that, but that'll be the asking price.

He'll probably get that contract, basically the same as what Phaneuf got back when he was still considered a great up-and-coming player.

if buff get's 6, enstrom should get league max.
he'll get roughly 4-4.5 millionfor 3 years.
the real travesty, freddy modin is making just 100,000 less than peverley this year.

I don't see him getting under 5. Even if he's not even the best D-man on the team, he's still the most popular and will get franchise d-man money.

Most of these "cats" are people like myself that have watched him for his entire career -- not 50 games as a "defenseman" without having to play defense.
$5M/year would be a mistake.

i would give him 10 for 2,
see how he does then re offer
instead of getting stuck with 112 for 10
however, i see it more as a 5.5 per for 5-6 years
