Renaud Lavoie tweets that Gill should be back in the line-up tomorrow night. Who would you sit between Weber or Picard? IMO, Weber.

I'd rather have Picard out. That guy is a dolt. He's got a good size and frame but never uses it.

No doubt, but I was asked who I would pull, I gave my opinion. For me it would be Picard. I can't help but see Patrick Traverse out there in my mind every time I see him on the ice.

You can't sit Picard. He has something very important that Weber does not

Darche: skating with team...maybe 7 days away. I wouldn't rush him...I want him back at 100% healthy. This summer...sign him to another 1 year $500,000 (or $575,000!!). We owe him loyalty for being a solid all-heart warrior at a cheap price. And he owes our Habs for rejuvenating his career by giving him a fair shot...

Sopel: at least 3 more weeks away...hand or arm injury. I can't wait for him to come back. He'll be a very solid #4-5 dman for us during playoffs. His Cup victory and PK experience and grit is badly needed.

Pleks and Halpern: day-to-day (injuries are not serious and imo they should rest and not rush).

Spacek: might make a return to play 2-3 regular season games...I wouldn't rush him.

Pacioretty: might try to comeback for Round 1 or Round 2 of playoffs. I wouldn't rush, no way. Pacioretty's career VS this year's playoffs. His career wins. Sure I'd love to see him comeback and inspire our Habs, but I'd be too worried about how fragile he might be out there. Next September might be a wiser choice for Pacioretty, imo. He'll have 5 months of rest...that should be more than enough. No matter...it's his decision. I hope he'll avoid going towards the boards gung-ho style from now on...Max is so brave but I want him to not trust the opposition so much along the boards (the way PK Subban is always aware of what/who is around him).

Any updates on:
Pleks?
Darche?
Sopel?
Halpern?
Spacek?

Or is the above info accurate enough?

This thread, Twitter, Habs Inside/Out...

Plekanec and Halpern weren't with the team on the trip, so no news there. We'll likely hear something at practice tomorrow.

Sopel has been skating with the team. No green light yet, but supposed to be re-evaluated tomorrow. Possible for Tuesday; I would guess returns Thursday.

Darche seems to have disappeared... consider him still day to day.

Spacek another 2-3 weeks away.

Thanks for links...

Sopel...holy ****!! Really!!
I thought Sopel was at least 3 weeks away (broken hand? or was it sprained?).

I really like his Cup experience and he'll be great for our depth.
Also...Sopel = no Picard.
But, Sopel shouldn't rush since we're doing well.

I'm not spitting on you or anything! but, Blackhawk fans will tell you that they really liked what Sopel did for them during the playoffs. Solid #4-5dman. So excited that Sopel will be healthy very soon.

Picard: I like the fact that he's not a pushover (ex: when he fought Avery). But he's too psasive for my tastes on D. If he were only a bit more aggressive...more challenging on D.

I would like to see this:

Hamrlik - Wizniewski
Mara- Subban/Sopel
Gill - Sopel/Subban
---------- -----------------
Spacek - Weber - Picard

Great to hear Sopel may be back soon. We need him against the B's. Our D looked really weak against the Rags. Good to have Gill back too.

Same here...VERY VERY glad Sopel is coming back soon, but...weren't earlier reports saying that he would be out for 3 weeks? (I'm super glad, but what was the injury? maybe it was a light sprain of the hand? from blocking a shot? or he just wanted to let it heal to a 100%? anyways...glad he's coming back for Thurs).

And is Brent Sopel capable of defending teammates? (can he fight? if our teammates are pushed around?).

For the record: I'm not for gooning it up...I prefer winning with a classy team that can play hockey unlike Boston and Philly (ex: Detroit, and Chicago was classy enough, no?! when they won the Cup, meaning no major goons). But if the league doesn't improve on ''goonery'', then I still believe during summer that we may have to get one more tough dman (tough and can play hockey) and one more tough forward who can also play hockey (ex: a Chris Neil type, but he's too costly for a trade maybe).

If we beat Boston...they better not goon it up (just being sore losers). Campbell has got to warn both teams before the game to keep it clean. If Campbell doesn't warn both teams, then you know he wants to see Boston goon it up...IMHO

Tomas Plekanec: still day to day? (I would want him to rest...not rush back and re-injure himself). But I pray he comes back before playoffs...to play at least 2-3 games to warm up before playoffs. Same goes for Mathieu Darche, Jeff Halpern,etc... and Jaro Spacek coming back in a few weeks will be great for our D depth (#6-7 spot), but I'd give him lots of practices before putting him back in lineup (to remove the rust). We're in a good position if Weber and Picard are pushed back into the #8-9 spots. #5-6-7 spots are (imo) for Sopel, Spacek and Mara (especially for his grit/toughness/teammate protection).

Go Sopel Go!!! (great news for our health department!!).

I noticed this before and figured it would be fixed. Now I'm just confused. Why does the OP say Pacioretty is back? I mean why list it twice, I guess cause he came back from that previous injury which wasn't the same injury?

I guess it makes sense, just figured it would stay on the same line

I don't think he is really physical. But in any case I think he has a lot more strength in front of the net than Weber does. And with Gill, Price and Sopel we have three goalies on the ice.

Simple answer is no. Especially not with a broken / fractured wrist / arm.

I guess they don't want to reveal too much about his hand?

But if it's healed a 100%...I hope it is, then why wouldn't they let us huge Hab fans know more.

Initially they did say 3-4 weeks, no?

Anyways...really really glad we don't have to wait 3-4 weeks for Sopel. This should help Hamrlik and Gill get a bit more rest, hopefully. This Hamrlik and even Gill...they are major IRON-MEN!! (but the coach has got to know this...even iron-men need a bit of rest, no?!). I would have rested Hamrlik and Gill in that Minnesota game at 3-0 or 4-0.

Sopel and fighting:
has anyone ever seen him fight?
Can he protect teammates? (if a teammate is pushed around).

According to hockeyfights.com Sopel only has 8 career fights and hasn't fought since the 2006-2007 season.

He's fought Brendan Morrow (twice), Mark Smith twice (San Jose), Matt Johnson (Minnesota), Scott Hartnell (while he was in Nashville), Ian Laperriere (in L.A.) and Nick Boynton (Phoenix). He's a bit of a scrappy fighter doesn't lay out bombs but gets in close for short shots.

At this point? We don't know. If we keep staying afloat, I would not rush them.

At this point my biggest fear is we go into the playoffs without sopel, pleks, halpern, spacek and a still wonky cammy. If we lose to them due to injuries again I will flip houses over.
