Hemsky
Who do you think would trade for such a player?

What would be a realistic return at this point? A second round pick?

Maybe, maybe not.

Do we want a player that we dont know how many games they will be playing from year to year?

Are we going to sign this player to another deal?

If so, how much for and how long?

If not, then he walks at the end of next year and we get nothing at all.

It is that grim.

Should have traded him two summers ago.

Hemsky has now missed 75(and counting) games out of his teams last 127 games over two seasons through a combination of injuries.

ftr thats 60% of the games he is missing in recent seasons and Its now possibly getting worse.

He also has a well developed concussion history and a predisposition to take headshots that isn't likely going away.

But still this player gets applauded for standing up and taking it.

Except its taking a toll. Which should be the salient point and much moreso than Hemsky showing he can take it..

Regardless he is worth a second at next years deadline

I also worry about our other Czech, Smid. Similar concussion history and plays a much rougher game. Compounded with frequent neck issues, to the point he's has loss of feeling in his hands.

Bad foot, ankle, knee, groin is one thing. Yeah, you miss some games.

Head trauma like concussions has a much deeper impact on a persons life in general. A friend of my wife had a bad concussion from hockey, it messed up her ability to work for 6 months and she was dealing with difficult symptoms the whole time. Even after she didn't feel 100%.

he is the oilers samuel l jackson.... and no not the bad ass. he's mr. glass. its god awful how injured he always is. not only does his circling the net 5 times before he gives away the puck on errant passes in the offensive zone, doesn't shoot enough, he is always injured. he's nor reliable. he shows flashes of brilliance but its a flash in the pan thing. he's also inconsistent and i never understood why people liked him. i've been saying trade him since 06 and still stand by it.

That's lame, I would have enjoyed watching Hemsky play with a 1st line center and what not.

I like Hemsky a great deal and think he's a tremendous hockey player but.. if he's continuously injured like this.. I guess the best thing to do is trade him.

TBH, I'd rather have Hemsky play 40 per cent of his games than trade him for a late pick or fringe prospect that won't provide the same value even if they play 82 games.

Smid had neck surgery never a good thing.Loss of feeling in the hands means there is a problem in the neck.I know this because I had the same issue.I was helped immensely by prolotherapy and triggerpoint injections.

I guess this means that Omark will likely stick around longer.

All I have to ask is why was he playing if he had any sort of symptoms? I don't care if he wanted to go, Renney or someone on the coaching staff should've said no.

Does this mean that we can now officially label him as injury prone? It's tough to rebuild and become a good team when one of the players you are counting on can't stay healthy.

Surprise, surprise,surprise.

And once again, to all those "We must resign Hemmer no matter what" supporters, I state again, why would you want to keep a guy that spends more time in the infirmary than on the ice these days? I will say again. The guy is injury prone. We need to cut bait with him and get what we can while the going is what it is. We need guys that can play most of an entire season on this team.

I don't know if I'd say that. He missed 10 games 3 or 4 seasons ago after a head shot from Tootoo but that's it. I'd say after last night he now has a slight history of concussion problems.
