Why was Gomez moved?

Just wondering what really transpired when the Rangers sent him to MTL. Was it his ridiculous contract or was it because management didn't like him as a person.

Because A) we needed to move a contract to sign Gaborik. B) Gomez was (is) terrible and terribly overpaid C)The deal we got was too good to turn down

He was horribly overpaid. To this day I can't believe montreal not only took Gomez and his terrible contract, but also gave us value back, as if Gomez was actually worth more than a bag of pucks.

I almost crapped myself when i saw we traded Gomer.. there wasnt even a hint of it going down because the idea of anyone taking gomez drury or reddens contract was ridiculous at the time. Then we found out not only did he trade him but we got a legit d prospect...

who is now playing really well in our rotation of 6 dmen.

Mostly the contract, and he didn't have great chemistry with any of his linemates. His work ethic was inconsistent and he was undisciplined at times.

I also heard he was instrumental in getting Renney fired, and he was known for not getting along with his coaches in NJ (there were rumors that he shot a puck at Claude Julien in practice). So I guess it's possible that the Rangers thought that this is a guy who won't be missed that much in the locker room.

He was being paid $7 million to skate in circles and looked lousy in a tutu.

Let's be fair, he also occasionally shot the puck like a girl into the stomachs and chests of goalies all around the league.

It was his contract, his play, and I believe he had/has attitude issues and to make room for Gaborik. And the return was too good to resist.

It doesn't matter why. The only important thing is, Montreal won that trade.

lololololol

Gomez had an incredible wrist shot. He would always rip that 20mph powerful wrist shot right into the goalies chest. SICK!

Haha

Why was Gomez moved?
1. His Contract
2. His Contract
3. His Contract

Gomer is fast. Can take the puck from end to end better than anyone in the league in my opinion. Problem is he doesnt do much after taking it end to end. Usually finished with that poor excuse of a wrist shot aimed perfectly at the teams jersey logo. His contract was absurd for what he produces on the ice. We were hoping he would compliment Jagr, and didnt. Gaborik was a Free Agent and we needed a goal scorer. Shopped him.. Got an offer Mr. Sather couldn't refuse... and the rest is history.

Having those wingers must be really cool to work with.

Had 42 assists doing playing with a washed up Naslund and lazy Zherdev.

I don't know why he's getting so much ****.

"He shoots into the goalie's chest".... He's a playmaker for crying out loud. Always was. I don't know why people expected a damn snipeshow from the guy.

I get the contract thing, but it's not like he was a Redden at his position that didn't do anything positive.

No one expected a snipe show.

Yes, well all know hes a "playmaker", sorry I didn't clarify that.

Was his shot pathetic? Yes. Did he shoot more than 70% into the goalies chest? Yes. Was he making WAY too much money? Yes. Did we get a great trade offer for him? Yes. Done. Signed. Sealed. Delivered to Montreal.

People didn't expect a snipeshow, but they spoke about his shooting like that's his game and like they didn't expect the lack of goals from him. And they *****ed about how much he sucked because he was a logo hunter. What else would you expect...

It's crazy if you think about it. We pretty much got Gaborik, Prust, and McDonagh, for Gomez and Kotalik.

And Higgins, unless you purposely left him out because he came from Montreal.

i remember when that trade went down some people jokingly (at least it seemed jokingly) said prust was the best player in the trade. now that's pretty obvious

Thank god we traded him when we did. He's a shell of his former self.
