values def there from the sens side, but:

- do you have space to add 10M in cap space?
- do you really think 'this is the year to go for it'?

Makes absolutely no sense from a Salary Cap standpoint.

Nope. And we probably won't for the next 2 years.

Some of you don't realize how much cap space we have right now, and Gilroy's 1.75 along with Ani mean that only approximately 8 million total coming in with this trade. By my calculations, we have about 9-10 free right now. You can bash it for other reasons, but it is not out of the question cap-wise. Even if it's close, it can be tweaked a bit to work so please don't act like it's impossible under the cap, because it ISN'T.

Honestly, I would rather take Phillips out(even though I like him) and keep McDonagh and a 2nd.

Anisimov + Gilroy + 1st for Spezza + ______

Either way, I dont think Spezza would do all that well in a Tortorella system anyways. He is too soft.

IN all honesty, it wouldnt be IMPOSSIBLE. Its highly improbable, but not impossible. It would pretty much automatically mean Drury will either be traded or bought out in the offseason to make room for Spezza's contract.

Of course I did, pal. Buying out Drury is in this team's best interest whether we land Richards or not, so if we were to get Spezza for 7m instead, buying out Drury, and not re-signing Phillips unless it's somehow a sweetheart deal will give us more than enough for the raises to Dubi, Cally, Boyle, Sauer, and likely re-signing Eminger for a similar price. Don't get smart with me boy!

are you getting all this cap space by assuming we'd use the LITR relief for our injured guys? capgeek has our payroll with all 26-27 guys on the roster (including injured players) at $57 mil. leaving us with about $2.4 mil in cap space...

its been said that we could add an $8 mil salary at the deadline but thats because with about 1/4 of the season left an $8 mil salary would only be a $2 mil cap hit the rest of this season...not sure if thats where the confusion is coming in

yea, but that's all we'd be adding... so i don't get what you're trying to say... if we added Spezza at the deadline, we wouldn't be adding 7 mil, we'd be adding the pro-rated amount...

Why are you always trying to trade Anisimov? Please stop. It's mind-numbing.

The same way people are expecting to fit Richards in for 5-6 years with a 7-8 cap-hit. Spezza's hit would be 7m, likely lower than Richards. Drury needs to be bought out. He should be regardless. The sooner this team cuts ties with him, the better.

I don't need to "contribute" considering the deal is pretty much impossible.

That's 11 million in cap space coming our way. We can't fit that. We'll be in cap hell next season so we can have a one dimensional, overpaid center, and a UFA defensive defenseman, when we need a puck mover. Yep, let's get right on that, trading our phenomenally talented, 6'4 two-way center, our 1st, and our best D prospect. Real appealing.

Pass, Spezza has some major question marks to me. Only 9g and 11 assists this year in 32 games? Granted, he may still be a little banged up and he's playing with an aging Alfredsson, but to invest $7m (caphit) a year until 2014-15, I don't know if I'd take that risk. I quite like how Anisimov is developing and rather'd keep him and our picks and see where it leads us. This team is a few years away from legitimately contending, no need to potentially eff that up IMHO.

god no, please no !

I like NY the way it looks now. Rozi just left town, lets see if Gabby can get back on track and if Wolski can produce down the stretch.

I think the only way this kind of cap hit works is if Drury see the woodshed out back. Additional tweaks are also likely needed, maybe avery gets the boot as well.

The trade may not be but you then risk not being able to resign all your RFA's... Would rather keep Anisimov, McDonagh, the 1st and 2nd continue to develop as we have and see where we stand. Other avenues might open closer to the deadline.

I can confirm this, yes, if you buy an Xbox 360 and NHL 11 - you can indeed make this trade go through.
